The words barely leave my lips before Zeke is pulling me onto his lap. He wraps his arms around me and presses his mouth on mine.

“I love you, Goldie,” He whispers when he pulls away. I feel my heart soar, but there’s no time to reply. I can only giggle as Rex threads his arms around my waist, shifting me over to his lap.

Rex kisses me next, running one hand through the hair at the nape of my neck. It sends shivers down my spine. When Rex lets go, I’m breathless. But it’s Gunner’s turn, and he reaches down to lift me easily.

Gunner holds me to his chest as if I weigh nothing. He’s so strong, but so gentle, as he lowers his lips to mine. Our kiss deepens and there are fireworks. I feel like I’m melting against him, but he pulls back and lowers me gently.

“We have church today,” Gunner says, already back to business. “We will settle everything,” He promises.

I nod, wanting to believe him. I just can’t imagine how that discussion with my father will go. He’s a powerful man, and he has friends in high places. Do the guys really think that they can collect on their debtandkeep their hostage?

Gunner must see the trepidation in my eyes. “Don’t worry,” He tells me. “We’re the Grim Riders.” He pulls me to his chest again and pushes his lips to mine gently.

There’s a crackle of electricity, my worries momentarily forgotten.

I’ve decided to change my life. I’m staying here with my men. I’m free.

I’m Goldie now.

Chapter 25

Zeke

Goldie picks at the remnants of her cinnamon roll. I watch as her blue eyes dart around, finally focusing on the digital clock on Gunner’s entertainment system. It’s ten-thirty, but church isn’t until noon. Goldie bites her bottom lip.

She’s nervous,I realize with a bit of surprise.

Nervousness is a foreign notion to me. I don’t get anxious; I take action.

But I know that I’m not like everyone else.

I was born into this life. I grew up surrounded by the Grim Riders. My mother grew up in the Grim Riders and her mother before her. I’m what you could call a lifetime hereditary member.

But even my own mother thinks that I’m too crazy.

Well, what do you expect? After generations of living outside of the law?

You can’t expect me to benormal.

Goldie shifts on the sofa, tucking one of her shapely legs underneath. I lick my lips as she drums her fingernails on the flesh of her thigh, peeking out from under her oversized black t-shirt.

“I’ve got to go check on my sisters,” Gunner grumbles, glancing at the clock. He looks over at Goldie and raises one eyebrow. “Want to come with?”

Goldie bites her lower lip again, and I feel blood rushing between my legs.

“I really need a shower,” She says.

It gives me the perfect opening.

“Come to my room,” I blurt. “I’ll get in with you. My shower is huge,” I finish my request with a wink.

My room might be the smallest on this wing, but it came with one perk: A large walk-in shower, complete with a rainfall shower head and a bench.

Goldie’s blushing and I can tell that she’s on the verge of saying yes. She steals a glance at Rex, and I know just how to seal the deal.

“There’s even room for Rex,” I add, with a knowing smile. I know from experience that we can all fit inside, but there’s no reason to share that information.

I want the past to stay in the past. I’m in love with Goldie, and I’ve never felt that way about a woman before.
