Alastair spoke to me about the nature of kink and what the psychologists thought it did for people while he tidied up from our scene, and I watched through heavy-lidded eyes.

* * * *

“Hey, Princess. Wake up.”

I opened my eyes. Alastair’s face was right there, and he was smiling—and he’d never looked better.

“There you are,” he said.

“Hey,” I mumbled, then frowned. “Why is my ass on fire?”

Alastair gave me a strange look.

“I’m joking. I know why. It’syourfault.”

He had the grace to look chagrined.

“Ah. I was very thorough.”

“Very.”

“If you can see your way to getting dressed, we can get out of here. I’ll draw you a bath at home, like last time.”

“Yes, please. I feel like you owe me.”

“I owe youat leastthat.”

He helped me up and into my clothes.

“Wait, where are my boy shorts?” I turned to Alastair.

He smiled with a smugness I couldn’t ignore. “I’ve got them.”

“Oh, really. Well, I’d like them back at some point.”

“We’ll see.”

I couldn’t help the laugh that escaped me. God, he was such a fucking pervert.

I was glad I’d worn yoga pants and not jeans, and I wouldn’t have wanted to wear the boy shorts over my smarting bottom. Still, my ass did not appreciate the rub of the light cotton.

Alastair opened the door, and I followed him from the room. It seemed strange to be in the club, as if the Bordello was its own dimension, and I was a different person there.

I felt delicate, soft and ached just about everywhere. But like after a great workout, I was relaxed and loose and happy. Alastair took the key back to Sebastian as I grabbed my coat.

“Let’s go,” he said, when he returned and put on his jacket. He pulled me in for a quick cuddle before pushing the door open and stepping out into the night.

We were at the bottom of the steps before I noticed them. And by the time Alastair had clued in to who they were, my mom was yelling.

“Tobias! You need to get yourself home, pronto. I don’t know what you think you’re doing prancing around town with that Indian girl and this pervert, but you should be home with me where you’re safe.”

She reached for me, as her friend or boyfriend or drug dealer stood there with a creepy smile and his hand in his pocket.

I was still dazed from the scene and would have been lost if Alastair hadn’t stepped in front of me.

“Get away from him.”

The steel in his voice woke me up in an instant.
