Her head swung over as I did. “I do.”
“All the way back to the club?”
She better fucking no?—
“Yeah, all the way back.”
“Even in the dark?” I don’t know why I asked that; it was a stupid, very obvious question.
She smirked, facing the windshield again. “In the dark.”
“Why ask for a ride tonight then?”
Her fingers spread out over her thighs as she continued to watch the snow.
“Something happen?”
We were nearly to the club, and I knew I was running out of time.
Her smile only tilted the corner of her lips as she gestured toward the windshield. “Well for starters, it’s snowing…and really freaking cold outside.”
Right. Shit, why was I being so basic tonight? I flicked the blinker and slowed the truck. “And you called Kip to get you?”
“Who else would I call?”
I nearly flinched at her tone because she was right. Red was already home with Brooks, Callie was home with Wes, and I…well, I hadn’t ever been an option.
But I was last night.
Pulling in front of the apartment, I said, “I’d want you to call me. If you ever need a ride again?—”
She pulled on the handle for her door and pushed. “I’ll call Kip.”
Fuck.
I was out and rounding the truck with her.
“So you don’t mind that he’s here, drunk and that he was about to drive to come get you.”
She spun around on the porch, her key to the apartment out and in her hand.
“Of course, I care, but you’re insinuating he’ll be drunk every time.”
“I’m insinuating that you’re leading him on. Unless you want him to give you a property patch?”
Her eyes searched mine, until she finally stepped closer. Her nose was nearly at my chin.
“What if I do? He’s nice, treats me well, and a few of the Sweetbutts have talked, said he has an impressive dick.”
My vision went red, and there was an odd sound filling my ears.
“You’re fucking serious? He’s who you want?”
“No!” she answered too quickly, and it made my gaze latch on to hers.
With a much softer tone, I stepped closer. Our bodies were nearly flush.
“Then what?”
