“So after this, are we acting like it didn’t happen or what’s the plan?” I forced the question out, mostly to make him feel as uncomfortable as I did, but partially because I genuinely wanted to know.

He shrugged as a way of responding.

“Guess if we both find ourselves alone, and no one sees us, I’d be down to do this again. But not tonight. I have plans tonight with a pair of Sweetbutts that have been dying to double up with each other.”

God, my face was on fire.

What an asshole. What an actual fucking prick.

“What?” he asked, pushing at my arm.

I shook my head and darted for the bike on quick feet.

“Daisy, what’s with the face and the sudden glare of death?” His pace quickened, although I wasn’t sure why. We were both headed the same place. I had to ride back with him, and there was nothing I could do about it.

Suddenly his arms came around my waist and he hoisted me up in the air. “You’re not a fan of the adventure twins keeping me company tonight?”

I pushed at his hold. “I could care less who warms your bed, Killian, but it’s fucking rude to talk about who’s going to suck your dick next right after you?—”

“Right after I what?” he challenged, pulling me around to face him, his hands still around my ass. “What we did was early high school shit…we didn’t fuck, we didn’t even do oral sex of any kind. You have no reason to be pissed.”

I hated him. I hated him so much it was physically painful.

“It’s not that I care, okay. It’s just a matter of being polite or kind. I didn’t tell you that I already had my eye on some guy in the club, hoping he could actually seal the deal and give me some real relief, did I?”

His grip tightened on my hips as his eyes became two pieces of stone.

“I told you already that while you’re here?—”

Laughter bubbled up and out of me, forcing me to push hard enough for him to drop me.

“Go fuck off with that. I owe you nothing. You’re no one to me just like I’m no one to you. Still, I wouldn’t have said it in front of you.”

I began walking again, nearly to his bike when he was suddenly next to me again.

“Fine. It sucked hearing that, I’m sorry for saying shit in front of you. Now, who are you trying to hook up with tonight?”

“None of your concern.” I pulled the black bucket helmet on my head and buckled it. Killian studied me with his hands on his hips.

“You can’t fuck any of the Stone Riders. I forbid it.”

Shaking my head, I threw my leg over the bike, nervous that it would fall over. Killian’s hand came out to steady my knee a second later.

“I don’t want to talk about this anymore. I don’t even know you…I really don’t care.”

His jaw flexed, and then he was straddling the bike and aggressively handling his helmet.

I hated that our time here had ended the way it did. I had actually enjoyed my time with him, before he became an asshole and lied about all of it.

Suddenly I had to know. “So all that stuff about my eyes, the way—” My face was going to catch fire. I dipped my head and stopped talking because this was so fucking embarrassing.

He peered from over his shoulder, his hand dropping to my knee to pull me closer. “Nah, I meant every word. You have the prettiest fucking eyes I’ve ever seen. The kind I could see someone throwing a kingdom away for. But I’m no prince, I’m the bastard who’d sneak in and usurp him, but you are most definitely a princess. Which means you’re not my type, it’s nothing personal.”

I was about to reply with something quick witted when he shook his head as if he were sad. “Look, I already know I’m not your type either…trust me…I am well aware.”

His bike roared to life, and before I could reply, he took off.
