So much so, I had a difficult time even picturing the possibility of having a long-term relationship.

“Time is running out, better spill what intel you have while you can.”

His face fell, but he recovered faster than I had anticipated.

“You have the senator’s daughter in the club. Rumor has it, she’s club pussy.”

Shit.

There was an invisible hand wrapped around my throat, choking the air from my lungs and burning it all to ash.

I had to be careful because if I lost my temper, it would tip him off that she meant something to me.

“What do you know of it?”

“I know a few clubs have been talking about it. Rumors are circling, and there’s a pretty price tag being discussed.”

“There’s a lot of pussy in the club, you got a specific name?” Deep down I knew it was her, but I was still clinging to the hope that I was wrong.

I had ripped Laura off the files because of that feeling. Not only because a profile with Senator Witt existed in those documents, and with that, there was a strange need to shield her from what might be inside. I hadn’t looked at the file in years, but I knew enough about his previous dealings that whatever it was, wouldn’t be something she needed in her head.

“You got a fuckin’ phone?” My dad laughed, making fun of me. “Or a computer? Just google him, and I’m sure you’ll see who his daughter is.”

I’d been too anxious to look it up. I didn’t want it to be possible. She’d given the last name, White, and I wanted to believe that name had no association to the vile piece of trash I knew as Senator Witt.

I dipped my head, knowing I couldn’t get through this acting like I didn’t know who she was. “She’s not club pussy, but she is under our club’s protection. Need you to stop the rumors.”

My dad’s brows furrowed, his eyes searching my face as if he couldn’t piece together what I was saying.

He waited too long, and I knew I’d given it away. I should have just kept my mouth shut.

“She’s yours.”

I shook my head faster than I could even think. Anything to get him off the trail.

“Not mine. Just protected by the club.”

“She’s also leverage. She may be protected, but she can also be an asset. You could use her to get me out of?—”

“No, I wouldn’t, and you know I wouldn’t. You deserve to be here, every fucking day of your sentence, and you know it.”

That angry menacing glare replaced his easy-going demeanor.

“You’re a spineless piece of shit, Killian. Can’t understand why Ryan handed the club to you. Rumors also circulating about that too that you’re pussy-whipped, not thinking clearly. Some dame has your head all clouded. Now I know which one it is, and since you don’t want to help me, perhaps I’ll encourage the other clubs to take your precious jewel.”

The storm slowly building within me was too much. I snapped.

My hand shot forward and gripped his throat as I swiftly stood and hovered over him.

“Say. Another. Fucking. Word.” My grip tightened. The guard by the door watched on, which meant he likely wasn’t one in my father’s pocket. “I will end you.”

His face turned red, a horrible sort of red that would become blue if I had my way and continued squeezing. The guard finally moved.

I released my dad and was already walking away when I heard him wheeze at my back.

“You’re a coward, Killian. Use her to free me. You don’t belong there. I’m going to have you ripped from that position, just watch.”

I shook my head and clenched my jaw, fear clawing at my chest over what I was going to do with this new problem that landed in my lap.
