God, he was more persistent than I'd ever imagined.

I shivered as the clouds covered the sun. Water droplets stained the pavement, slowly covering it with rain.

"Damn it," I groaned. I wasn't dressed to be out in the weather. My thin jacket wouldn't keep me dry in the middle of a January rainstorm.

I flipped up my hood just as I heard footsteps in the puddles. I turned, seeing a man in a black hoodie dashing towards me.

"Sasuke?" I blinked the rainwater out of my eyes.

The man grabbed me, forcing me against the wall.

I struggled to break free, but his grip was too strong. My heart raced as I recognized the scent of Harris' cologne. It was him. He'd finally made his move after months and months of watching me from afar.

"Don't struggle, love," Harris whispered into my ear. "It won't do you any good."

I screamed, thrashing wildly in his grasp. He clamped a hand over my mouth, muffling my cries. Panic washed over me as I realized that I was trapped. My efforts to escape were futile.

"Shh," Harris cooed soothingly. "It's better if you don't put up a fight."

Harris looked completely different than I was used to. His face was gaunt and sunken, his skin sallow, and his hair was greasy. He looked like the sort of guy who would end up with a Netflix true crime documentary about his life.

My shouts were muffled against his hand.

"So I finally got you, huh?" he said. "I've been taking my time. Waiting for this moment," he continued. As he blinked, I saw my scared face reflected in his brown eyes.

I clawed at his hands, but they remained firm, pinning me to the wall. I could feel my energy seeping away, and my limbs grew weaker. My heart thumped furiously inside my chest, and I desperately wished for someone to come save me.

"Let me go!" I yelled, squirming as much as possible.

"Hold it!" A new voice filled my ears.

Sasuke, his hair dripping into his eyes and his clothes soaked from rain, stood there with his gun ready. "Let her go, or I'll shoot you."

Harris sneered. "Don't try to be a hero, man," he said, revealing the knife in his other hand. "I'll stab her before you make a move."

My eyes flicked back and forth between the two men. Harris seemed to have no idea who Sasuke was and was severely underestimating him.

"Let her go," Sasuke repeated. His face was contorted with anger.

Sasuke took a few steps toward Harris, raising his weapon higher.

"Whoa, whoa," Harris cautioned, backing away slightly. "You don't wanna do this, man. Just walk away and leave us alone."

With a flick of his wrist, Sasuke aimed the barrel at Harris' forehead. "Put the knife down," he demanded, his tone icy.

Harris laughed nervously, shifting his weight uneasily. "You're gonna shoot me just to save her?" He gestured dismissively at me.

I tried to pull away, but his grip around my wrist was too tight.

"Are we really going to do this in broad daylight?" Sasuke asked, ignoring the fact that it was very much rainy.

"Nah, I ain't leaving without her," Harris retorted, brandishing the knife more aggressively. "I've waited too long."

My heart hammered in my chest.

"You really believe that you're willing to die for her?" Sasuke questioned. His voice carried a hint of mockery.

Harris hesitated, his gaze wavering between us. "You her new boyfriend or something?" He laughed. "I wouldn't if I were you. These girls are bad luck."
