His eyes sparkled in the sunlight, their dark gold color mesmerizing. "Julia," he greeted me, his voice deep and soothing. "Come sit with me. I want to discuss something important."
I hesitated for a moment but then decided to join him. As we settled down on the grass under the canopy of delicate pink blossoms, I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of this moment. Life was so unpredictable, and yet here we were, finding happiness where we least expected it.
"Julia," Sasuke started, looking straight into my eyes. "There's something I need to ask you." His words hung in the air, heavy with meaning.
I watched him closely, trying to decipher the emotions swirling behind his stoic facade. The intensity of his gaze was almost palpable, a tangible force drawing me deeper into his world.
"What is it?" I asked softly, my heart hammering in my chest.
Sasuke's usually confident demeanor wavered, replaced by a hint of nervousness. The change in his posture was so subtle it was almost imperceptible, but I noticed it nonetheless. It was a stark contrast to the commanding presence he exuded when dealing with goons. This vulnerability made his proposal all the more intriguing.
"Julia, ever since we met, you've become the most important person in my life," he began, his voice wavering slightly. "I didn't expect this to happen, but I'm glad it did." He took another breath. "And I want to thank you for sticking by my side through it all."
I nodded, my heart trembling with anticipation. Thanks to the power of corruption and money, he wasn't charged with anything regarding Harris. He was a free man, but now what? Was he going to leave, or was he going to be forced to go home?
"And, now that it's over. I know I don't want you ever to be away from me again," he said, shifting up onto his knee and presenting a small velvet box. "Julia, will you marry me?"
Sasuke opened the box, revealing a gorgeous diamond ring nestled in plush velvet. The radiant stone caught the light, casting dazzling reflections against his face. "Please say yes."
I stared at the ring, my heart pounding like a drum in my chest. Everything seemed surreal, as if I was caught in a dream. I couldn't believe this amazing man wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
"Yes, Sasuke," I managed to croak out, my voice cracking under the weight of my emotions. "Of course, I will marry you!"
A wide grin spread across Sasuke's face, his eyes sparkling with joy. He quickly slipped the ring onto my finger, his touch warm and tender. The diamond glistened brilliantly, reflecting the love and commitment that connected us.
"Thank you, Julia," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "This means so much to me."
I blinked back tears, overwhelmed by the happiness washing over me.
Sasuke pulled me close and kissed me passionately.
The excitement of the proposal was still coursing through our veins, and his kiss tasted sweeter than ever. I ran my hands over his muscular torso, feeling the rigid armor of tattoos beneath my fingertips.
"How did you manage to get the perfect ring so fast?" I asked between kisses. Sasuke grinned mischievously as he scooped me up bridal style.
"Lucky for me," he replied, carrying me back to the house. "Your yakuza fiancé has some... connections."
Here I was, in love with a criminal. But he was so much more than that. He'd saved my life and given the meaning back to myworld. This man was no ordinary guy; he was a feared assassin with dangerous enemies lurking everywhere. But none of that mattered anymore because no force on Earth could tear us apart.
It was the happiest moment of my life.
