“Last warning, Mason. The girl is Carson property. Keep your eyes and your fuckin’ hands off,” Noah tells him.

I want so hard to fight against him as he continues to drag me toward the door, but my body is weakened by the alcohol and my mind is too busy trying to figure out what he just said.

“Get off me.” I somehow manage to rip my arm from his grasp as soon as we get outside.

“Go home.” Noah opens a car door and nods his head at Zayne across the roof.

“Who do you think you are? You can’t tell me what to do. And what the hell did you mean back there about me being Carson property? I am no one’s property.”

Noah refuses to offer me any explanation as he forces me to duck my head and get into the passenger seat.

“Jacket and purse.” Sawyer strolls out the bar carrying my stuff. “You should see the look on Leonard’s face in there. You sure riled him up,” he tells Noah.

“And for no reason, we were just two people havin’ some fun.” I scowl at them both while Zayne leans across my body and buckles me up.

“Get her home, Zayne.” Once again Noah ignores me, but the seat I’m sitting in is far too comfortable and my eyes are too heavy for me to argue with him.

The car door slams and the engine starts and I’m keeping my eyes firmly shut to stop my head from spinning while trying to locate the window button so I can get some air.

“Did Cole put him up to that?” I ask, trying my best to make some sense out of what just happened.

“Cole didn’t know about it.” Zayne’s answer kinda stings. “If he did, Leonard Mason would have had a lot more than a whack to the jaw and a dent in his pride tonight.” He laughs to himself.

“I don’t belong to Cole, he doesn’t want me.” Even being this drunk doesn’t disguise how sad and pathetic that sounds, and Zayne must think so too, because he doesn’t make any comment.

“You know Karina likes you, right?” I decide to try and change the subject. I don’t know the River Boys all that well, but from what I’ve gathered, Zayne isn’t much of a talker. I need someone to talk to me now to distract me from the fact I feel like I’m gonna spew.

“Karina Walker ain’t interested in me.”

I peek one of my eyes open and see him shake his head sadly as his eyes remain focused on the road.

“She totally is, I’ve seen the way she looks at you, it’s the way a girl looks at a guy when he’s stuck in her head.” Right now my head feels like it’s on a carousel.

“Trust me, I’m not on her radar.” I don’t miss the way his hands grip the wheel and his foot pushes a little harder on the gas.

“Oh, come on, it's obvious. She only went out with Dalton those few times because she wanted you to notice her. She wanted you to be jealous.”

“And is that what you were doing with Leonard tonight?” He throws the accusation at me.

“No.” I shake my head firmly.

“Whatever you gotta tell yourself.” He shrugs.

“What the hell?” I stand up from the couch when Garrett answers the front door and Zayne aids a swaying Savannah through it. Her arm is draped over his shoulder and her legs are practically being dragged.

“She’s your problem now,” he warns Garrett as he drops her into the armchair by the fire.

“Sav…” I kneel in front of her and lift up her head.

“Oh hey, Maisie.” She offers me a vacant smile.

“She was in Cahoots talkin’ toLeonard Mason,” Zayne informs Garrett, and I can see from the look on my husband's face that he’s not impressed by what he’s hearing.

“No way, she hates that guy as much as we do.” I refuse to believe what I’m hearing. Savannah knows how much of a jerk Leonard is, she’s seen it for herself.

“We’re actually going to the dance together,” she slurs with her eyes closed and a clever smile on her face.

“Jesus Christ.” Garrett slides his hand over his face. Up to now the two of us were enjoying a nice relaxing evening together, all the babies are asleep. Wade and Leia went upstairs hours ago, but I should have known better than to expect an uneventful night in this house.
