I wanna fix it, I wanna kiss this girl and make everything right but she deserves so much more than me. She came to this town like a firecracker, always smiling and full of energy. Now look at her. I did this. I crushed her spirit. Yet when she reaches up on her toes and kisses me I don’t have the strength to stop her.

Her lips are delicate and unsure as they touch mine, a vast contrast to the way I kissed her back at the barn and now she’s the one in control as she gently walks me backward so I’m against the wall. Her hands slide over my body as her tongue explores my mouth, and the cold water cascading over us doesn’t seem to bite as harshly as her fingertips spread warmth through my veins.

I let myself savor how it feels to have her in my arms when I know I shouldn’t, but everything about Savannah makes me weak.

Her kisses move down to my neck and when her hand wraps around my cock, I press the back of my head to the wall and groan at how good it feels.

“You can’t fight this forever, Cole,” she whispers, pulling me through her tight little fist. “You're mine, just as much as I’m yours.” Her mouth trails over my skin and when I throw her hand away, she looks like she’s gonna protest, until I spin us around and lift her off her feet. I line myself up with her entrance again and watch the way her lashes bat away the water falling into her eyes.

“Stop fighting your feelings and accept what this is. Own it, Cole,” she dares me, looking every bit as scared as I feel.

I nod my head, taking her throat in my hand and kissing her as I steadily slip inside her. This time I allow myself the time to appreciate her, holding her tight in my arms like I’ll never let hergo. I grip at her skin desperately as I slowly slide in and out of her pussy. Her body ain’t shaking anymore, and the sounds of satisfaction she’s making almost convince me that she needs me as much as I need her. The thought of that condones what I’m doing and stops me from hating myself.

I feel human for the first time in as long as I can remember and when we both come for the second time tonight, I hold her as tight to my body as I can get her because I’m petrified of letting her go.

You shouldn’t have come here.” I bury my head into her shoulder and when I feel her hold her breath, I graze my teeth over her collarbone. “But I’m glad you did,” I admit. Her chest sags like she’s relieved and I manage a smile as I look back up at her.

“I’ll grab us some towels then we can go inside.” I place her carefully back on her feet and turn to reach inside the window so I can grab a towel off the shelf, and as soon as I hear the gasp she makes, I realize my error and regret it.

“Cole,” She looks horrified when I turn back around and hand the towel to her. “Did you do that to yourself?” She wraps the towel around her chest and stares at me like I’m some kinda freak.

“It’s nothing, let’s get ya inside. It’s cold.” I reach back through the window and grab a towel for myself, wrapping it round my waist before attempting to get her inside,

“No. We need to talk about this.”

“I don’t wanna talk about it.” I tug at her again but she remains firm on her feet, proving that she ain’t going nowhere until she gets some answers.

“Why?” Her head shakes in confusion.

“Because… Because I hurt you,” I admit, dropping my head to avoid looking at the disappointment in her eyes.

“Cole.” She sounds so pitiful and it makes me want to smash my fist into the cabin wall again. “You can’t do this to yourself. I need you to promise me you will never do that again.” She’s begging me now, her cold, wet hands clasping at my face and forcing me to look at her.

“Promise me.” Her eyes are wild with that determination I’ve fallen in love with.

“I promise,” I whisper, feeling more guilty than ever. This girl has proven over and over again that she loves me and instead of appreciating it, I’ve put her through hell.

“Let’s get ya inside.” I drag her hands from my face and kiss her fingertips, relaxing a little when her hand drops into mine.

We get inside and after she’s put on one of my shirts, she stands awkwardly in the middle of the room with her eyes wandering around.

“Watcha doin’, red?” My voice comes out gravelly after I’ve put another log on the burner.

“I’m waiting for you to tell me to leave,” she admits sadly.

So I get up and I walk toward her, sliding my hand under her ear.

“Is this really what you want?” I frown as I glance around the room at the little I have to offer her.

A Carson man is never gonna be hard up for cash, but we like the simple life, and what's standing in front of her is a long way off a trip around the world and a lifetime of happiness. I watch the smile lift on her lips and hope brim in her eyes when she nods her head back at me.

“Then I’ll never ask you to leave again,” I promise. “I’m done fighting. I don’t deserve this, but it don’t stop me wantin’ it. Stay here with me tonight?” I ask.

“And after that?” she checks, tilting her head and fiddling with the button on my shirt as a distraction.

“I told ya. No more fightin’.” I lift her chin with the crook of my finger so I can kiss her the way she deserves to be kissed.

“Mornin’.” I stroll through the Carson house and into the dining room with Cole just a few steps behind me. Everyone’s here and they all pause from their conversations and eating, to stare at us both when Cole pulls out my chair like the perfect gentleman and I sit down.
