She deserves to take her time. I’ll do my best to give it to her while still getting closer to her in ways I can. Yesterday was a big breakthrough, even though she left my office as fast as she could afterwards.

Kemp rumbles, “Is she going out with Gia tonight?”

“I’m sure. At least Gia won’t let our woman get into any trouble,” Lachlan sounds resigned.

“No, she won’t,” Kemp says with too much assurance.

His words have me narrowing my eyes at him. “What do you mean?”

Kemp shrugs and leans against the island as I start to plate up the food. “I told Gia she better be on her best behavior when they go out,” he admits without even a hint of shame.

Lach perks up. “She didn’t question why?”

“She did.” Kemp grins and shrugs one shoulder. “I told her straight up that Lennon is our woman and that we want her to be safe while having a good time. I also told her to give me a call and I’d be there in no time if they have any problems with guys approaching them.”

“How’d Gia react to your bombshell?” I can’t help but ask.

“She got this big, dreamy look on her face and sighed like she was about to fall out of her chair.” Kemp looks between us and knows what I’m really asking and what Lachlan is worried about. I swear I can feel our brother’s gut twisted up in knots. “It wasn’t a big deal. She didn’t bat an eye at the three of us being with Lennon. Nor did she care about how she’s, technically, our stepsister.”

Lachlan breathes a sigh of relief and I bark out a laugh at him. I find hope bubbling up in my chest at the thought of having someone else in our corner. It’ll be good to have an ally, one Lennon will allow to get close to her.

“Hopefully she’ll put in a good word for us,” I muse.

Kemp nods and shoots me a knowing look. My brother probably went to Gia knowing full well she wouldn’t care about the technicalities of the situation and would be in our corner. She’s one of our best employees and she knows it. We never let her think we don’t appreciate what she does for the company.

She’s been with her man for a long time, long before she came to work for us. Which means she’s one of the few women in the office who never showed even a little bit of interest in the three of us. It’s refreshing as fuck.

I’m damn tired of letting women down easily. I’m looking forward to the time when everyone knows we’re with Lennon and leaves us alone. Well, I hope they leave us alone.

I don’t want anyone other than my sweetness. She’s it for me and I know it. Now she just needs to believe it. I know my brothers feel the same way.

“I think we’ve given her enough time and space to process everything,” Kemp starts as he grabs some of the food and takes it over to the table. Lachlan grabs drinks before we sit down.

It’s kind of funny how we still try and have dinner together every night. It became a habit while we were growing up. We eat as a family more often than not and even if Dad wasn’t there, our grandparents insisted on the same time together.

It’s always a time for us to be together and reconnect without it being about work. Granted, we do talk about work a lot around the table, but it’s not the only topic of conversation. Lennon has been talked about a lot over dinner.

I can’t wait until we get to the point when she’s sitting right here with us.

Lachlan shoots a pointed look at Kemp. “What are you suggesting?”

“I think we up our game and come on stronger.”

“You aren’t afraid that she’ll just run or push us away even harder?” Hell, even I can hear the fear in my voice. Fucking yikes.

“She might try,” he admits. “Or it might be exactly what she needs. We need time to get to know each other and that’s not going to happen if she continues to avoid us. We need to spend time with her one-on-one and we need to spend time together as a group. She’s not going to be able to picture how this is going to work unless she’s around us.”

I nod slowly as we start eating. What he’s saying makes sense.

“I got to spend some time with her yesterday,” I smugly remind my brothers which earns glares from them.

I bark out a laugh because I love riling them up. We’ve never competed over a woman, and we aren’t really doing it with Lennon either. They just want the same opportunity I had yesterday. I can’t fault them for it at all.

I hold my hands up in surrender. “I’m just saying that I think you both should spend time with her. I agree with Kemp, it’ll help. She needs to get to know us and feel comfortable with us. It’ll help her get over the things holding her back.”

“I’ll ask her if she wants to go out and see some properties with me,” Lachlan sounds unsure which is so unlike him.

“Romantic,” I tease him.
