I felt lightheaded, the world around me blurring.

It was as if the darkness was seeping into my very soul, consuming me from the inside out.

But I refused to give in.

Not here, not like this.

Jayas’s face flashed in my mind’s eye, giving me renewed strength.

Drawing from reserves I didn’t know I had, I managed to knee the creature in its midsection.

It released a guttural sound of surprise and momentarily lost its grip.

I seized the opportunity, using the momentary distraction to twist out of its reach.

We continued our descent, but now I was a bit further away from the monster, the distance between us growing with every second.

But the creature wasn’t done.

With a roar of rage, it lunged at me again.

In the weightlessness of the void, every movement, every push or pull, affected our trajectory.

The beast’s lunge propelled us both spiraling in different directions, but it still tried to reach for me, its fingers brushing against my skin.

Closing my eyes, I wished for it all to end, for the void to swallow me whole and offer an escape from this nightmare.

I felt drained, my energy sapped, my will to resist dwindling.

Just when I thought I couldn’t fight any longer, a strange warmth enveloped me.

The coldness of the void was suddenly replaced by a gentle embrace, a soft cocoon shielding me from the horrors outside.

It felt like being wrapped in a protective blanket, a sanctuary amidst the chaos.

The beast’s roars and grunts became distant, its form gradually fading into the obsidian backdrop.

Time seemed to slow, and for a moment, everything was still.

The once hostile void had transformed into a tranquil expanse.

I felt weightless, floating amidst a galaxy of stars, each one twinkling like a promise of hope.

Memories of Jayas flooded back, our moments of love, the shared dreams, the battles fought side by side.

Each memory was a beacon, guiding me through the darkness.

Suddenly, there was a pull, like a gentle tug on my soul.

The cocoon around me began to dissolve, and the sensation of falling returned, but it was different now.

There was no fear, no dread.

Only acceptance.

Then, the darkness consumed me.

Jayas
