That had to be where the action was, where the challenges and trials of the Mating Games would be most intense.

And inevitably, where the female would be.

Pushing aside the momentary awe, I focused on my next move.

I had to reach the heart of the jungle, where I believed the main events of these Mating Games would unfold.

With a deep breath, I launched myself off the hilltop, racing down the slope with renewed determination.

As I hurtled through the jungle, dodging the exotic flora and skirting around potential hazards, I couldn’t shake off the unease I felt.

I had seen the female’s eyes, the fear, the uncertainty.

She was out of her element, thrust into this nightmarish scenario without warning.

She had no scales, no powerful claws, no sharp teeth, or even enhanced vision.

The female was a babe in this place.

As much as I was a player in this game, I felt an overwhelming urge to ensure her safety.

The foliage grew denser, the sounds of the jungle louder, and I knew I was getting closer.

The central part of this arena, the heart of the Mating Games, lay just ahead.

And as the trees began to thin, revealing a vast clearing bathed in an otherworldly light, one thought dominated my mind.

I only hope I’m not too late…

And then, immediately on the thought’s heels, came the sound I most feared:

A sudden piercing scream cut through the air, snapping my focus to a pinpoint.

The female was in danger.

And I was likelyalreadytoo late.

My heart raced in my chest.

It was her — the female.

The unmistakable sound of roars and growls erupted shortly after, sending shivers down my spine.

Clearly, I hadn’t been the only one to hear her.

The others would be converging on her location too.

A savage cacophony of snarls and hisses reverberated around me, setting the entire jungle alive with tension.

My instincts were aflame, urging me forward.

One of theothermales had found her.

Without a moment’s hesitation, I increased my pace, pushing through the underbrush, leaping over fallen logs and skirting around obstacles that stood in my way.

The need to reach her was overwhelming, consuming every fiber of my being.
