A creature near me, with shimmering, multi-hued feathers, caught my attention.

It stared back with intelligent, almost human-like eyes.

The recognition and fear I saw there gave me a fleeting comfort.

I wasn’t alone in my fear.

“Six…”

Determined, I scanned my capsule for a way out or some kind of communication device.

A few soft, luminescent buttons caught my eye… but they were all on theoutsideof my prison.

My hand formed a fist and I beat on the glass wall.

“Five…”

I pulled back in confusion.

Was this some kind of interstellar transport?

But why?

And where was I being taken?

Or was I simply a new acquisition for some extraterrestrial collector?

“Four…”

Each second felt endless.

I wished I could talk to the feathered creature beside me or any of the others in this alien menagerie.

Perhaps they knew something I didn’t.

Perhaps they could offer comfort.

But by their growling, their eyes fixed firmly on me, their hips thrusting back and forth at me, their massive members dripping and leaving marks on the walls of their glassy prisons, I didn’t think the kind of comfort they and I had in mind were the same.

“Three…”

My eyes swam with tears.

The weight of the unknown pressed heavily on me.

It felt as if the pressure inside my capsule was increasing.

Something was happening.

Something even worse than what I was already going through.

“Two…”

Through my tear-blurred vision, I noticed the creatures around me calming.

Were they used to this?

Maybe they knew panicking wouldn’t help.
