Her face crumpled, but then she straightened, determination evident. “Then why are you so different from the others? Why aren’t you chasing me down like they are?”

For a moment, I hesitated.

She was asking me to bare a part of my identity, something that held sacred significance to my people.

“I am a Zelthori,” I revealed, my chest puffing out slightly with pride. “Our kind has always valued honor and consent. It goes against the very fabric of our existence to force any being, especially a female, into something she does not willingly choose.”

Aurora’s eyes widened in surprise. “You… value consent?”

“Being here wasn’t my choice either,” I confessed. “I was captured, taken against my will to be part of this show. They knew that my moral code would make for an interesting dynamic in the games.”

She looked at me, her gaze softer now, understanding. “So, we’re both prisoners in this sick game.”

“Yes,” I admitted. “But while I cannot harm you, I can’t guarantee the same from the others. They do not follow the Zelthori code.”

The atmosphere between us shifted slightly.

The initial mistrust had been replaced by a shared sense of understanding, a mutual goal to escape this nightmare.

“I never imagined there’d be… well, aliens like you,” Aurora said, a small smile playing on her lips. “Actually, I’m surprised there are any aliensat all.I meant, aliens who are respectful and honorable.”

I chuckled softly. “We’re not all monsters. Just as I’m sure not all humans are saints.”

She nodded, her eyes thoughtful. “Thank you, Jayas. Even if we can’t escape this game, it gives me a glimmer of hope knowing you’re different.”

But our moment of connection was broken by the unmistakable sounds of roars and thuds from outside.

The other alien males were drawing closer.

“We need to be careful,” I whispered, pulling her slightly behind me. “They’re getting closer, and they won’t show either of us any mercy.”

Aurora gulped, her face turning pale again. “What do we do?”

I looked around, trying to find an exit or a hiding spot.

But the cave was open, and the only way out was the entrance from which we came.

“We stay together, and we outsmart them,” I said firmly, preparing for whatever was about to come next.

Aurora nodded, determination replacing her fear. “Together then.”

Our pact sealed, we readied ourselves to face the dangers outside.

The game was on, but we were determined to change its rules.

Aurora

Aheavy roar echoed in the distance, reverberating through the cave and unsettling the stillness around us.

Jayas’s piercing golden eyes widened in alarm for a brief second before he reached for my hand.

“We need to move. Now,” he said, pulling me along with an urgency that made my heart race.

We burst out of the cave’s mouth, our feet immediately hitting the soft moss-covered trail leading up the mountainside.

The dense jungle stretched out below us, a canopy of vibrant greens, purples, and blues, unlike any earthly forest.

Alien plants with luminescent flowers lit our path, guiding our way up the mountain.
