We simply gazed at each other, no words needed.

The depth of our feelings, the understanding we shared, it all radiated from our interlocked gazes.

However, that moment of serenity was interrupted by a creeping, fog-like gas that started to seep into the cave.

Panic rose within me, memories of our previous encounters with the game’s cruel mechanisms threatening to overshadow our recent union.

But Jayas, always the pillar of strength, merely tightened his grip around me, his face calm. “It’s just the reset,” he whispered, his voice soothing.

“The… reset?” I murmured, trying to keep the tremor out of my voice.

He nodded, brushing a strand of hair away from my face. “This is how the game brings us back to the beginning, to start anew after a pair has mated.”

I looked into his eyes, searching for any hint of deception or doubt, but all I found was unwavering sincerity.

Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm the racing of my heart, attempting to match his composure.

His presence, still deeply connected with mine, offered a sense of security.

Drawing in the gas, its slightly sweet scent filled my nostrils.

My thoughts began to blur, the edges of my consciousness softening.

As my eyelids grew heavy, the last thing I felt was Jayas’s firm embrace, holding me close, anchoring me to this place, this moment, with him.

As darkness claimed me, one thought echoed in the dwindling recesses of my mind — that no matter how many times we were reset, the bond we’d forged in this cave would remain steadfast and unbreakable.

“Ten…”

The familiar sensation of waking up enveloped me, but this time there was a difference — a warmth, a sense of connection that lingered from before.

The world slowly came into focus, and I found myself once again encased in the transparent confines of my pod.

My ears perked up to the sound of the ominous countdown.“Nine…”

But unlike before, the dread that used to fill me at the commencement of each round was now replaced with a burgeoning sense of anticipation.

As I looked around, I noticed the obvious change on Jayas’s pod.

A glowing bulb signifying our recent union was now prominently displayed.

That bulb seemed to infuriate the surrounding aliens, eliciting snarls and roars of indignation.

The atmosphere in the chamber became thicker, filled with a heightened sense of aggression and competitiveness.

To them, it was a glaring reminder of the dynamics of the game.

Jayas had made a Claim, and the others wanted to contest it.

But for me, that bulb represented something else — a beacon of hope, a shining testament to our bond.

It wasn’t just about the Mating Games anymore; it was aboutus.

Glancing around, I sought out Jayas amidst the maze of pods.

Our eyes met, and everything else seemed to melt away.
