Reaching down, he picked up the discarded plasma cannon he’d taken from the previous beast.

It gleamed dangerously in his grasp.

“Give me five minutes,” he instructed. “After that, jump over the arena’s edge and reset.”

I stared at him, the weight of his words sinking in. “Jayas…”

His fingers caressed my face gently. “I am doing this for you, Aurora,” he whispered. “Forus.”

Desperation clawed at me, making it hard to breathe.

I pulled him into a fierce kiss, trying to pour all my feelings, all my fears, and all my hopes into it.

Pulling away, he looked deeply into my eyes, a silent promise of return lingering in the air.

And then, with a last lingering touch, he turned and ran off the plunged himself over the arena’s edge, disappearing from sight.

The eerie silence of the arena settled around me.

Five minutes.

The seconds dragged, making it hard to keep track of time.

Five minutes?I wondered.Five minutes for what?

A cold chill made goosebumps of my flesh.

Suddenly, a noise snapped me back to reality.

Heavy footsteps, getting louder and closer.

Panic surged through me.

There was another beastly male, and he was coming for me.

The countdown had become a race against time, a deadly game of cat and mouse.

All my earlier exhaustion seemed to evaporate as adrenaline kicked in.

My instincts took over, telling me to run, to hide, to do whatever it took to survive.

The beast’s growls grew louder, echoing my frantic heartbeats.

As I raced ahead, the reality of the situation hit me hard.

Five minutes in this arena felt like a lifetime.

Every step, every breath, every beat of my heart was a fight for survival.

The looming presence of the beast behind me was a stark reminder of the dangers that still lurked in the shadows.

But I wasn’t ready to give up.

Not yet.

With Jayas’s promise echoing in my ears and the hope of a brighter future driving me forward, I knew I had to keep going, keep running, keep fighting.

And as I sprinted ahead, I held onto the hope that, someday soon, we would find each other once more and free ourselves from this nightmare.
