Cameron leaned in towards me. His hand went and cupped my face and slowly moved it behind my head. There was the lightest bit of pressure but it wasn’t overbearing. He held my gaze and I could see he was waiting for me to make the final move. I knew what he wanted; he was making that abundantly clear. If this went further it was for me to decide.
“Just one kiss,” I said and moved towards him.
“There’s no harm in that.”
He increased the pressure on the back of my head and pulled me to him. I saw his look of triumph before his mouth touched mine. His tongue immediately pushed on my mouth demanding entrance. Gone was the sweet, teasing man who had been talking to me all morning. In his place was the man that I remembered from the night before. He took full possession of me and it was like the rest of the world ceased to exist.
I opened my mouth and his tongue dove right in. His hand tugged on my hair. I placed my hand on his bicep and gave it a tight squeeze. Cameron moaned deep in his mouth as he intensified the kiss. I could feel his need coming off of him like the heat of the day. It was strong, constant, and all consuming.
There was no way to tell how long we kissed. All I knew was that when we finally broke free from each other it took me a few long seconds to remember where we were or what we were doing.
Cameron gave me a knowing smile and said, “Definitely no harm in that.”
I didn’t answer him and I didn’t need to. The kiss proved exactly what he had been trying to tell me all day. There was something going on between us and no matter how much I wanted to pretend it wasn’t there, it wouldn’t go away. I had no idea what that would mean but I did know that I was in trouble.
Chapter 11
Cameron
“The best part was, it wasn’t even a jellyfish but a bag in the water,” Alison said and we all laughed.
“It looked like one, you even thought so,” Laura said, defending herself.
“Now you understand why I don’t like to go snorkeling. Too many scary things that can attack you while you’re in the water. Bags or jellyfish, it doesn’t matter,” Sydney said.
“It was a really nice spot and the animals were great. We even saw a stingray,” Alison said.
“I was out of the water by then. If I hadn’t, I probably would have walked on the water to get away from the thing,” Laura said and shivered.
“The stingray was beautiful. It was all smooth and slick as it just glided through the water without a care in the world. I think I might go out again,” Alison said.
“You go for it. I think I’m going to stick with Sydney and hang by the beach. There’s a volleyball game in the morning, that will be more than enough excitement for me,” Laura said.
I looked over at Sydney who smiled at me and then looked down. I don’t know why but we hadn’t said anything to Alison or Laura about where we had been in the morning. We had gotten back from parasailing and were having lunch by the time they got back from the snorkeling tour.
It was on the tip of my tongue to tell Alison and Laura where we were but I could tell that Sydney didn’t want to. If we did, there would be a lot of questions about why we went and why we didn’t wait for them. I was sure there would be other questions if it came to light that I spent time alone with Sydney. Not that we hadn’t done that before, but it would be impossible to keep our attraction to each other under wraps if they were to question us.
I didn’t care if they knew. I actually wanted everyone to know. I would prefer that it was common knowledge so it wouldn’t be that big of a deal when our parents showed up. I didn’t dwell on it and kind of liked the fact that Sydney being my lover wasn’t common knowledge. It added to the fun of what we were doing, and there was a lot more fun that I wanted to have with her.
It was late in the afternoon and we were all sitting by the pool. Sydney was sitting next to Laura as they dangled their legs in the water and Alison was lying on floaty on her stomach. I was between all of them and resisting the urge to stand next to Sydney and take her hand in mine.
After the spectacular kiss on the parasail, I had taken her hand and held it as we had come down. Nothing was said between us but there was something different about her when we got back on the boat. She seemed freer, less stressed, and also more affectionate. She didn’t object when I kept her hand in mine as we headed back to the resort. She even smiled and giggled when I whispered in her ear.
I wanted to take her back to my room as soon as we got back but I didn’t want to push it. I had gotten a kiss out of her. One more amazing, life affirming kiss. Every moment I spent with her I knew I wanted to be with her. The kiss only helped to solidify that feeling. I just needed to convince Sydney. I knew I couldn’t do that if I pushed her to sleep with me.
She was better but she was still closed off. She wasn’t allowing herself to truly see that I cared for her and wanted a future. I wondered if she thought this was just a fling for me and that was why she wasn’t telling Alison and Laura. I wasn’t too concerned. I had already accomplished more today than I thought. I still had a few more days before our parents showed up. My plan was to have her in my bed, permanently, by the time they got to the resort. Once I had her there, I would work on convincing her to never leave.
“You were adventurous about snorkeling, does that mean that you’re done trying anything new this trip?” I asked Laura.
“Yes. One adventure per trip is enough. I like being on land. I like having a drink at the ready and my biggest concern is what to drink next. Laura if you want to go again, good on you, but you aren’t doing it with me,” Alison said.
“Think you’ll do something else tomorrow?” I asked Alison.
“Maybe. They had a jet skiing trip that sounded like fun. It goes out to a dune that has a bar that you can only reach by water. One of the guys on the boat was telling me about it.”
“That sounds fun,” I said.
“Do you want to come with me?” Alison asked me. “You shouldn’t be stuck at the resort just because the other two are chicken.”
