I smiled at him as I watched the boat and the ocean slip away as we went up in the air. It was strangely quiet and peaceful or at least that's how it felt to me. By how Cameron was squeezing my hand, he didn’t feel the same way.

“You okay?” I asked once we had stopped climbing.

“I think so. It’s pretty up here. Not as beautiful as you but still very nice,” Cameron said as he looked around him. He kept his hand on mine and I gave it a reassuring squeeze.

“Look, I think I can see the resort,” I said and pointed out toward the horizon and the beach.

“How can you tell?” Cameron asked.

“The cabanas have blue awnings on them.”

Cameron let out a sigh and I could feel him relaxing next to me. “Good eye. I think you’re right. We aren’t that far away. I forget how blue the water is. I think I can even see some fish down there,” Cameron pointed at the water.

“I’ll take your word for it,” I said.

“What is your fear of fish?”

“It isn’t a fear, I just don’t like the idea of some slimy crawling and moving around my legs,” I admitted.

Cameron turned to me and gave me a slow sexy smile. “You didn’t seem to mind when something of mine was crawling and moving around you last night.”

“That was different and you know it.”

“I would hope so,” he said with a laugh. “It’s actually kind of fun up here. I wonder if you can turn around in this thing. I’ve seen people do it,” Cameron let go of my hand and dropped back like he would do a flip in the harness.

“What are you doing? You can’t do that!” I yelled.

“Why not? It looks like it could be fun. Maybe we could do it together.”

“I don’t think we can. I don’t think we’re supposed to.”

“There are hinges here, it looks like it allows you to do it.” Cameron leaned back again but I gripped onto his arm and stopped him.

“You could fall. Don’t do it.”

“I think I should try it. You know me, once I get an idea in my head, I don’t let up.”

“Please don’t. I would freak out if something happened to you.”

“Well,” Cameron said and turned to me. “I could be persuaded to not do it. If I was given the right incentive.”

His eyes roamed over mine and I knew exactly what he was getting at. He was teasing and baiting me and my first instinct was to tell him no and he could do whatever he wanted. It would serve him right. I wasn’t even sure if he would do what he was suggesting. But he had gotten more comfortable the longer we were up and he was adventurous enough that he might just try it. I wanted to test him, see what he would do. As I looked over at him, I could tell that he was deadly serious and if I didn’t give into his demands, he would do it.

The harness was pretty secure and I didn’t think that Cameron would fall out. Still, Hector hadn’t said anything about spinning while we were up and I wasn’t sure how safe it was. I didn’t want to find out.

“What are you suggesting?” I asked with a sigh.

“Nothing scandalous. I’m just asking for something to keep grounded. Something that would be more exciting than doing a flip up here. You have no idea how hard it has been to be next to you for hours and not touch or kiss you. Please, let me kiss you. If you do, I promise I will stop thinking about flipping up here.”

“You don’t play fair,” I said with a sigh.

“I don’t plan to when it comes to winning you. Come on, Syd. It’s only one kiss. What harm could it do? You might be saving my life.” Cameron’s eyes danced over my face and I let out a slow sigh.

He had me and he knew it. I wanted to tell him he could do the flip, have fun, but I didn’t want to. I wanted to kiss him; I wanted him to kiss me. I might have wanted to keep my distance with him but all it took was a little bit of time alone with him for me to see I wasn’t. I didn’t see how this could go any farther than the time we had at the resort but that was a worry for another day.

“Well, if it could save your life? How could I say no?” I asked.

“Exactly. It really is the only logical answer.”
