His words sent a thrill through me and I tugged on him harder. I hadn’t wanted to believe that he really wanted to make this work, that we could find a way to have a relationship after our vacation but I was starting to see that maybe he did. Cameron tightened his hold on me and looked me directly in the eyes. “I have never said anything like that to any woman, ever. I have never felt what I feel towards you with any other woman. I want you; I want this. I think you do too. Why wouldn’t you allow us this chance to be together?”
“My mother doesn’t approve. She said as much to me tonight.”
“That’s funny because I had a conversation with my father and he’s all for us being together.”
“He is?” I asked.
Cameron smiled and I could tell he wasn’t lying. He nodded,
“Yes. He can’t think of a better woman than you to be with me. He was all for it and thinks we would be great together. All things that I completely agree on.”
It was more than I could have hoped for but it didn’t take care of my mother. I looked away from Cameron but he brought his hand under my chin and made me look at him.
“We both know we have something here. I can understand how your mother might have some reservations about me considering my past. Let me show you and her that I have changed. Don’t end us now. Give me the rest of the week to show you how great we are. If you don’t agree or you think that you don’t want to be with me by the end of it, then we can address that then. But for now, can you give me the time that we have left for us to be together. I’m not asking for forever, I just want what we have right now and the chance to prove we can have forever.”
