People are recording this. Recording Torin.

Which is great when it comes to him talking about meeting with them about business concerns and how Cara needs to start producing its own crops but now…

“I want you all to meet Abigail. You are going to love her.”

“So where is she?”

“We want to meet her!”

“Tell her to come out with us!”

People all start shouting and cheering.

My stomach cramps even harder and I’m aware that I’m breathing fast and shallow. Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God.

“She’s amazing,” Torin goes on. “But she’s not big on crowds and stuff.”

“She’s the princess!”

“We want to see her!”

I feel Jonah put a hand on my back and I know he’s saying something to me, but I can’t hear him over the blood rushing through my head.

Torin puts a hand over his heart, grinning broadly. “I know you do. I know. And you don’t even know how incredible she is. My gorgeous genius,” he says, with feeling. “She’s so fucking amazing, and she’s here, doing all of this for us."

People applaud, but there are still people calling out.

“We need to see her in person!”

“We want to hear her talk!”

“I want her to, too!” Torin calls back, laughing.

Hey, isn’t he supposed to be covering for me? Telling them it’s fine and I don’t need to come talk to them?

Torin puts his other hand to his chest now. "I am so madly in love with her.”

My heart gives a very hard thump and I feel my mouth drop open.

There are whoops and some cat calls and more applause, but I’m just staring at Torin.

He just said…

“Seriously, over-the-moon, ’til-death-do-us part love!” he proclaims. “I fall more in love with her every day!”

Oh.

My.

God.

Torin just said he’s in love with me.

In love with me.

While standing on a table in a bar.

We said we weren’t going to do that. We weren’t going to talk about feelings. We weren’t going to make any vows about emotions. We weren’t going to make any public proclamations.
