The men all look at one another, sharing proud smiles.

“Abigail is going to do amazing things with her plans. It’s incredible that this neighborhood is the starting point for some of it,” Torin adds.

Steve nods, giving me a smile. “We are grateful, Ms. Landry. I hope you aren’t offended by my concerns and questions. We’re not just proud of this farm, but proud that the woman behind it is from right here.”

I nod. I should be happy that they’re now recognizing me and my contributions. It’s what I wanted when I was in school here.

But now, it doesn’t matter if they’re pleased.

Torin O’Grady, Crown Prince of Cara, thinks I’m amazing and I’m realizing his opinion is worth more than every single person I went to school with put together.

Because he’s amazing. And he really sees me.

“I’ll be in touch,” Torin says. “Right now, Ms. Landry and I have somewhere else we need to be. In fact, we’re running a little late.”

With that, he turns me and starts for the front of the building, his hand resting hotly against my lower back. We have somewhere else we need to be? I just want to go to my mom and dad’s. And my bedroom there. Like, right now.

I’ve missed him. I’ve wanted to see him again. And that was before I actually saw him again.

Now, I want to kiss him, and strip him naked, and…well, damn. I think I might have a proposal for him.

“Where do we need to be?” I ask, as he holds the door for me and ushers me out onto the sidewalk.

“Alone somewhere. As soon as possible,” is his gruff, quiet answer.

I trip over the toe of my boot as I try to turn to look up at him. He keeps me from falling and keeps me moving forward.

Until we’re standing in front of Jonah. Who is standing beside a large black SUV.

I look around. The car that brought me to the farm is gone. “Uh, where’s my car? Where’s my suitcase?”

“It’s in the back of the SUV. I dismissed your car,” Jonah says, opening the back door of the SUV.

A beautiful brunette is standing next to him. “Hi, I’m Linnea Olsen.”

I whip around to look at her fully. “You’re Linnea?” Oh, damn. She’s gorgeous. And…yeah, she’s got a regal air about her.

But she winces. “Yes.” She says it almost apologetically.

I look up at Torin.

He just shakes his head. “I told you we’re friends. And she’s with Jonah.”

I look to the other man. He steps closer to Linnea and puts a hand on the back of her neck. She leans into his touch, her expression relaxing into a smile. And I take a deep breath.

“Yes, you did. It’s nice to meet you,” I tell her.

“You too.” She gives me a very genuine smile.

Torin helps me up into the back seat of the SUV while Jonah holds the front passenger door open for Linnea. Then the men round the vehicle and get in, Jonah behind the wheel and Torin in the back next to me.

“We have another stop?” I ask.

Torin shakes his head. “Even though your parents’ house is closer—” He shoots me a grin. “We’re heading back to the hotel. We booked you a room at the same place we’ve been staying.”

My heart rate speeds up. Oh, that’s…good. Probably better than my childhood bedroom that only has a twin bed. And that I’ll have to stay in on future visits home. I’m not sure I want to think of Torin every time I’m in that room after today. Christmases could be a little sad. And possibly sexually frustrating. Which is not ideal.

But I would very much like to spend some time with Torin. Alone. In a room with a bed. Before he’s completely off limits because he’s engaged to someone else.
