“How long ago?” I hissed.

“Fifteen minutes. Maybe a little more. I was knocked unconscious.”

“Just go and hurry. We hunt the fucker down.” I knew Jacob’s car, the unique markings making it easy to spot, including the Hugger Orange color I’d always thought garish. Now I was grateful he’d insisted on the old muscle car.

“What the fuck?” Dante barked.

“One of our own betrayed me.”

“Who?”

“Jacob. He was working with the bastards all along. That’s how he knew where to find her and what I was doing. The fucker dies but by my hand.”

“Don’t worry. I won’t take the pleasure away from you.”

“We’re going hunting, brother. Get prepared because it’s going to get messy.” I floored the accelerator, weaving around vehicle after vehicle, the short cut I knew already coming in handy.

With any luck we’d make it before they made it to the airport itself. If I knew anything about the man who’d worked for me for a couple of years, he would follow the same pattern, which meant taking the back road into the airport.

As Dante yanked his weapon from his jacket, I tried my best to concentrate on driving. At least her phone was with her. Or so I hoped it wasn’t a ploy. Fortunately, Jacob had no clue I’d asked our computer experts to develop the program. That could be our only saving grace in finding her.

“How close are they to the airport?” Dante asked.

“Eight miles. I need to push harder.” I flew down the interstate, the exit I needed just up ahead. The moment the exit ramp was within view, I pushed the Ferrari to the breaking point, but she responded beautifully.

And less than three minutes later, I pulled out onto the back road leading to the airport, immediately glancing at my phone. Now they were behind us, but not by far. Thankfully, there was limited traffic on the road. I slowed down, forcing my brother to glance in my direction.

“Do you mind telling me what you’re doing?”

“They’re behind us. This could get rough.”

“What the hell. I’m in the mood for rough.”

I continuously studied the screen on my phone, finally happy to see the car was only a few lengths behind. I slowed down even more until I had the fucker in the rearview mirror. Only then did I apply my brakes, spinning around in a full circle.

Almost immediately, Jacob was forced to veer off the road, running into the ditch.

I slammed on my brakes, throwing the gear into park. Somehow, by the time we scrambled out and raced toward the Charger, Jacob was already out of the car with his arm around Sabrina’s throat, stumbling backward as he pressed his gun against her temple.

I noticed a gash in his leg from the hard hit and grinned.

She struggled in his hold, managing to kick him in the leg twice.

“Stop it, bitch, or you die now.” Jacob’s snarl was followed by a shake of his head as both Dante and I came at him.

“I suggest you let her go or I’ll be forced to kill you,” I told him.

“You’re going to do that anyway.”

He was right, of course. However, I had to buy a little time to get her away from him. As cars whizzed by, some blew their horns, but people knew better than to stop. It would seem no one really cared about three men holding weapons on the side of the road or about a damsel in distress.

“I don’t suppose you want to tell me why you betrayed us,” I said.

He laughed as if I was an idiot. “Doesn’t it always come down to money? I was paid more than I’ll ever make with you.” Jacob’s words were laced with venom.

“Heck. I was getting ready to give you a promotion and a raise, a significant one.” I couldn’t keep a grin off my face.

He hissed, his eyes locked on what I was doing as both Dante and I inched closer.
