When he let go of my hands, pulling away completely, I felt such a tremendous sense of loss that I moaned instinctively.

“Don’t worry, pecador,” he muttered. “I’m still not finished.”

His dark laugh sent another wave of shivers coursing through me and when he lifted me with ease, tossing me onto all fours, I issued another sharp cry. Everything about him was powerful, the feel and scent of him overwhelming.

I dropped my head, clawing at the sheets as he pressed the tip of his cockhead against my pussy.

This was about hard fucking, laying his final stake in claiming me. I was too far gone into a state of delirium to tease him by struggling to get away, exhausted from the sheer volume of ecstasy.

After plunging his thick cock deep inside, the tip immediately hitting my G-spot, he slipped his arm under my stomach, holding me in place. Which was good because I was ready to collapse onto the sheets. The fucking began in earnest again, every few seconds his massive palm coming down on my backside to add to the filthy and sinful moment.

And I loved every second of it.

He was unwavering with his need, unforgiving in his mannerisms and I had no doubt given his level of stamina that he could go all night. Yet he seemed to forget that I had a way of controlling him, if only for a few seconds of time.

I squeezed my pussy muscles, clamping tightly around his thick shaft.

Only then was I rewarded with the deep, husky roar as he finally came, filling me with his seed. This time, he forced us to collapse together, our arms and legs entwined as he kept me close, so much so I could feel the rapid thudding of his heart.

He was warm and this felt safe, even if it was to be short lived.

As another wave of exhaustion tumbled over me and I closed my eyes, I heard the strangled whisper I was finally able to say without fear of losing my soul.

“I love you. I always have.”

CHAPTER 25

“It is unfortunate that in most cases when the sins of the father fall upon the son, it is because unlike God, people refuse to forgive and forget and heap past wrongs upon innocent generations.”

Love.

The word remained tickling the synapses of my mind as I refilled my drink. I wasn’t certain how an innocent creature like Sabrina could love someone like me. Maybe we were more alike than she’d let on. I returned to my desk, sliding my finger across the track pad of my second laptop. I would try not to destroy this one as I’d done to the other. She was right in that Brandy Martin had been found dead inside her home, her mutilated body found by one of Sabrina’s deputies.

My thoughts drifted to the SUV I’d seen watching her the same day I’d been sitting in the parking lot across from the marina. The asshole had been careful to hide his license plate. I should have gone after the son of a bitch. Maybe if I had, none of this shit would have occurred.

Too little. Too fucking late. I was furious with myself, so much so the anger continued to spiral out of control. The loose ends were starting to feel like webs of deceit determined to cocoon my entire body.

I checked on her two deputies as well as the medical examiner she was working with. By all rights they seemed on the up and up, although I remained suspicious. Where had she gone on the fateful day she was attacked? I’d gone by her house once, her office twice but she hadn’t been at either location. Wherever she’d been had likely pushed the timing up on attacking her. When the door opened to my office, I took a deep breath before lifting my head.

“Working late, boss?” Ivan grinned.

“It’s necessary. What did you find?” I asked.

“The code she provided was correct and the good sheriff didn’t lie to you. She’s been working on the case. She downloaded files, made some notes. She had the list of victims emailed to her from one of her deputies. I’m having the names run through our typical databases. Nothing connects yet.”

“Who were the victims? Kids?”

He shook his head. “Only one of them was younger, but the eighteen-year-old by all appearances was an honor student attending community college classes. Never been in trouble for any reason including a parking ticket.”

“Maybe it was a warning, something with his parents.”

Ivan nodded. “That’s what I’m thinking. I’m running friends, family members, business associates. I’ll let you know what I find.”

I thought about what little she’d told me. “I’ll email you the names of the people she worked with. Run them through as well. They’re all so squeaky clean.”
