“I’m not a celebrity.”

“All reality TV stars are. That’s why they do it.”

“It wouldn’t be why I would do it.”

I wanted to make more money. I wanted to show that realtors weren’t all horrible people who were full of themselves. I wanted to show the pitfalls of buying a house to prevent it from happening to other people. I had plans that it wouldn’t be your typical reality show. I especially wanted little to no drama. I was worried with my father’s divorce coming up that it might not be a possibility.

“No. You’ve never needed the money or the fame. Though I was glad to give both to you to start your business.”

“You’re a silent partner in my business. The money was a loan, and your name might have gotten some doors opened, but I kept it open.”

“Of course. Of course. You’re an excellent realtor. I wouldn’t have sent people to you if I didn’t think so. Just because you’re my son, I still have my own reputation to protect.”

“Yes. I’m well aware,” I mumbled.

He might be a good father, but that didn’t mean he didn’t put himself first when the need or his career called for it. I learned at an early age that I wasn’t cut out to be in the film industry. I didn’t have it in me to be that cutthroat. Real estate could be brutal, especially in the current market, but I was lucky and had money to fall back on that allowed me to not have to be ruthless. And I was grateful for that. Something I could never have done if I tried to be successful in Hollywood.

“You know, I’ll never tell you what to do, especially when it comes to the ladies. But you need to be careful if you move forward with Victoria. You’ve worked too hard and done too much to lose it all because of a woman.”

I wanted to say that Victoria wasn’t just some woman, but even if she wasn’t, my father was right. No matter how much I wanted to be with Victoria, now wasn’t the time. I needed to be patient and wait. Things would calm down between my father and Samantha, and when they did, I could see Victoria again.

Though as I hung up with my father and thought about not seeing Victoria anytime soon, I didn’t like the feeling I got in the pit of my stomach.

Chapter 7

Victoria

“This isn’t goodbye, Victoria. I’m not done with you yet.”

The last words that Zach said to me lingered in my mind days long after I had seen him. Yet, it wasn’t the only thing that I was thinking about when it came to him. I kept thinking about how his mouth felt sucking my ear, how his hands felt touching me, and the look in his eyes when we became one.

It didn’t help me to forget about him or to feel any better about walking away from him. I knew it was the right decision. It was the only decision. But it didn’t make me want him or miss him any less.

“Have you called him? Have you texted him?” Liam babbled.

“I told you I wasn’t, and I’m not.”

It was late afternoon, and Liam had come into my classroom to see how I was doing. Since I had seen Zach and told Liam everything, he had been checking on me constantly and teasing me about Zach. I knew he meant well, but it only reminded me that I couldn’t be with Zach. Not that Liam agreed with me.

“Have you had any more sexy dreams about him?”

“No.” I immediately blushed, giving away that it wasn’t true.

“You did. You had another sexy dream about him. Tell me about it!”

“Not going to happen. Can we just drop this?”

“No. You have a sexy man who gave you sexy sex, and you think I’m just going to drop it? You’re out of your mind. You like him; he likes you. Who cares who your parents are? You should be having more sexy sex with him!”

“It can’t happen. Not right now.”

I looked over to my computer screen and the news alert about my mother filing for divorce. It had a picture of my mother and Charles on their wedding day with the picture ripped down the middle. It actually wasn’t a flattering shot of my mother. Her face was in a slight leer as if she wasn’t happy to be getting married.

“The news of the divorce just broke. It’s going to be all anyone is going to talk about for a while. I don’t want to be in the middle of it by being seen with Zach.”

“Who says you need to be seen with him? If you’re doing what I think you should be doing and what I think you want to be doing, you shouldn’t be seen by anyone. Unless you’re into public sex. Are you?” Liam asked.

“Do I look like a woman who would be into having sex in public?”
