“We’re only talking about a couple of months. Do you think I would get sick of you that quickly? Is this your way of telling me you have some horrible quirk that I’m going to hate?” I still wanted to keep a light, teasing tone, but I was starting to get worried the more she talked.

“Me? I’m not the one who snores.”

“I do not snore!”

“Sure. We’ll go with that.”

“Are you worried that I’m going to get sick of you? Or are you going to get sick of me?”

“I’m not the one with the reputation for dating and sleeping with a lot of people.”

“Ah,” I said slowly. Now, I knew what she was getting at. She was worried she was going to be like the other women I had been with.

“Don’t ah, me. You have a history, a certain way with women. It’s only natural that I would be concerned.”

She reached down and pulled the covers over her breasts as she sat up and leaned against the bed frame. Even with her breasts covered and her eyes full of fire at me, she was still the sexiest woman I had ever seen.

“The easy answer is none of them were you. I know that it isn't easy for you to believe, and I’m sure you think it’s just a line, but it’s not. I dated women in the past that I thought were my equal, who I thought had the same goals and interests as I did, and yes, some who were just looking for a good time, like I was.

“But none of those women were my equal. Not like you are. And yes, I was looking for a good time, nothing serious with some of them, And while I’m still looking for a good time with you, like we did last night, it’s not the only thing that I’m looking for.

“You’re incredible, sexy, funny, and the most amazing woman I’ve ever met. I want to be with you. I’m willing to do whatever you need, whatever you want, in whatever way you want so that I can. If I need to hide from the world, then so be it. If you want to shout it from the rooftops, I will. Whenever you’re ready, whatever you are ready for, I’ll do it. Because I want to do whatever I can to make you happy because being with you makes me happy.”

“It does?” she asked.

“Yes. Very much so. I have never been happier or more excited about what my future could hold than I am when I’m with you. And that isn’t going to change in a few weeks or a few months or even in a few years. Do you think it will?”

I knew how strongly I felt about her, but what if she was voicing her concerns about me because she really had them herself?

“No, I don’t. You make me happy too. I’m sorry it took me so long to see it. I do now, and I want to be with you. Thank you for being patient with me, for understanding what I need and what I want. It means the world to me,” she said.

“Really? Care to show me just how much?”

“I think that can be arranged,” she said and moved towards me.

Chapter 17

Victoria

I didn’t think it was possible to be both extremely sore and happy at the same time, but as I walked into my classroom on Monday morning, that was exactly how I felt. Zach and I had spent the remainder of the weekend in my apartment. Neither one of us wanted to leave and had been more than happy to stay there. I had made a quick run to the store to make sure we had provisions. An errand that Zach almost didn’t let me do alone. I knew he was being kind by trying to go with me, but he couldn’t.

We had agreed to keep things on the down-low, and we couldn’t do that if he were going to the grocery store with me. Especially since we could hardly keep our hands off of each other when we were together. As soon as I had gotten back, he had torn my clothes off, and it had been a while later that we put the groceries away. Luckily, most things didn’t need to be refrigerated.

For the rest of the weekend, we alternated between making love, laughing, talking, eating, watching movies, and just holding each other. There might have been some sleeping going on but not much. It had been one of the best weekends I had had in a very long time. I couldn’t remember a time that I had spent almost two full days with a man, in my apartment, in my bed, ever. But I had done all that and then some with Zach.

He was different from any man I had ever been with. Not only was he the most imaginative and caring lover I’d ever been with, but he was also fun and funny to be around. He could give me a look or just say something that would make me laugh and smile. Something I realized I had never done in bed. He had a unique and incredible way of having our lovemaking be both sexy and fun.

Case in point, I had brought some strawberries at the store. When Zach had found them, he had used one to trace the lines of my body from my knees all the way up to my shoulders. I had no idea the feeling of fruit on my body could be so sensual, but it was when Zach was doing it. His actions had turned me on so much that I had wanted to tear off his clothes. I had been just about to do that when he had then bit down on the strawberry and my neck at the same time, sending me into a fit of giggles.

I don’t think it was the exact reaction that Zach was looking for, but he had enjoyed it nonetheless. We had both laughed, and I had to try the same thing on him, which had resulted in him laughing almost as hard as me. When we had calmed down, we had looked into each other's eyes, and then I had torn his clothes off.

It was a strange mix of laughter and desire. The laughter only added to the desire, and the desire only made the laughter more special. I had no idea that being with a man could be like this, and I was loving every minute of it.

Both of us were reluctant to let the weekend end. I seriously contemplated calling in sick for the day, but I knew it wouldn’t look good if I did. I was close to having a full-time permanent position, and I didn’t want to do anything to mess that up. Even if I really wanted to stay in bed with Zach for another day and night.

We had agreed to see each other again that evening. Zach had a showing he had to do later in the afternoon and wouldn’t be able to see me until later. I missed him, and it felt odd to think that I wasn’t looking forward to going into my apartment and not seeing him there, but I would later.

I had some last-minute packing I needed to do, and it would more than keep me busy until he got to my place. I don’t know why we had agreed that he would come to me instead of the other way around. He said his house was bigger and more comfortable than mine, and I was in the middle of moving and had only the essentials out, but it just seemed to work for us. Though I was sure there was less chance of people seeing Zach coming into my place than his.
