“You have no idea. It takes a bit of time. Longer if you read it all.”

“Do people not read it? Or at least skim over everything?”

“Depends on the person. It’s pretty straightforward, and the notary will explain everything to you, but it’s good to look it over, at least somewhat.”

“Thanks, I’ll remember that. You’ve been incredible through all of this. I can’t thank you enough.”

“You don’t have to thank me. I was just doing my job.”

“That might be the case, but you did a lot for me, and I really do appreciate it.”

“Well, if you wanted to thank me, you could do something for me.”

He walked further into the bathroom. It was a decent size room, but it wasn’t huge, and his tall frame and muscular body took up all the space, or at least it felt that way as he moved closer to me. The look that had been in his eyes not that long ago was back. It was full of heat and lust, and I couldn’t believe that I thought for even a second that the man didn’t want me.

“Really? What is that?” I stood up a bit taller.

“You could go to dinner with me.”

“Dinner? Really? You want to have a meal with me?”

I hadn't expected or even wanted him to say that. Dinner was what two people in a relationship would do. Two people who thought they had a future. I knew that Zach and I didn’t, and I wasn’t sure why he would think we would. All we could ever have was a quick moment of pleasure, and as much as I said I wanted to turn over a new leaf, I didn’t want to until I had been with Zach.

“That is unless you have a better suggestion,” he teased.

“I’m sure I could think of a few.”

“Do you not like dinner?”

He hadn’t moved any closer to me but leaned up against the shower that was less than two feet away from me. It wouldn’t take much to step closer to him, to wrap my arms around him, and pull his mouth to mine. I could be forward when it came to being with a man, but Zach wasn’t just any man, and if we were going to do something, I wanted to know that he was on the same page as me.

The tension that had been building between us had only grown and felt like it took up the entire room. I could tell he wanted me, but he was making no move to actually do anything. I wasn’t sure what his endgame was, but I needed to find out. I wondered if he just needed a little push.

“Oh. I do like dinner. I just figure that there are other things that we could be doing. Other ways that I could say thank you than by you buying me a meal.”

“What makes you think I would buy the meal?” he asked with a laugh.

“Are you not a gentleman? Would you not pay if we went out to dinner?” I teased.

“I was raised right and always, always treat a woman correctly. Which includes paying for the meal and beyond.”

“Beyond?”

He stepped closer to me as we spoke. He stood right in front of me, and his eyes slowly roamed over my body. I tilted my head back and let him. My breath came in deep and slow, and I felt a thrill when his eyes lingered over my breasts. I had never thought they were spectacular, but I felt differently when I watched Zach gazing at them.

“Beyond the restaurant. Beyond taking her back to her place. Beyond seeing that she gets to the door. Beyond anything you’ve ever dreamed of.”

There was a cockiness about Zach that I found sexy, even endearing. He didn’t shy away from who he was, and I found that attractive. He was no different at that moment, and it only made me want him more. I knew he could talk a good talk, but I was sure he was even better at doing.

“Are you sure? I have a pretty vivid imagination.”

“Do you now?”

He stepped closer to me still. Putting his hands on either side of the counter. As if he was pinning me to the counter, preventing my escape. As if I would even think for a second about leaving him and what we were doing. What seemed inevitable.

“Yes. I do. Do you?”

“I’ve been known to have a few ideas, and I’m always open to suggestions.”
