It was just one of the many reasons that I was glad he was my realtor.

“Do you always get this philosophical on the walk-through?” I asked.

“Only with my favorite client,” he replied.

“Oh, I bet you say that to all the girls,” I teased.

I stood in the doorway between the bedroom and the bathroom. Zach smiled as he looked at me and then slowly approached me. I tensed up as he did. The look he was giving me was one he had never given me before. It radiated desire and sexiness, and I could feel myself getting turned on just looking at him.

If there had ever been a doubt in my mind that the man wanted me, it flew right out the window as I saw the way he was looking at me. I dropped my hands to my sides as I waited for him to approach. His eyes stayed locked on mine as he moved closer. My mouth opened slightly, and my eyes darted to his mouth.

He stood right next to me and put his hands on my hips. He had never touched me before, not even to hug me hello. I had thought he was just distant and professional, but I could see now why he never had. Having his hands touch me set my whole body on fire. Need ran through me instantly.

His eyes locked on mine before he whispered. “No. I don’t.”

“You don’t what?”

“Say that to all the girls,” he said with a smiled.

I laughed, and the moment was broken. I couldn’t believe I had been so into him and the thought of kissing him that I had forgotten what we were talking about. I turned and walked into the bathroom. I couldn’t remember anything that I had wanted done, and it all looked in order. Feeling a bit ashamed and embarrassed, I walked past him and back into the kitchen.

Even if I wanted something to happen, we couldn’t. He wouldn’t do that. He was a professional, and I was his client. It wouldn’t be good for him or his image if he was ever found sleeping with a client. I wasn’t sure what the rules were about that, but I couldn’t imagine it being something they would encourage.

It was stupid of me to think that anything was going to happen. Even if I could see that he wanted me, it didn’t matter. He wouldn’t let it, and I had to admire the man for not pushing it, for not crossing a line. Not with a client nor with his stepsister.

I walked over to the kitchen counter, where the paperwork was waiting for me to sign. I looked down at all the issues I had and could see that they had taken care of all of them. I wanted to find a reason to stay with Zach for a few more minutes. Even if we weren’t going to sleep together, that didn’t mean I didn’t want to spend more time with him. I liked talking to him; I enjoyed his company. Maybe we could find a way to be friends.

“It looks like everything is in order,” I said.

“I’m glad you found everything to your liking.”

If there was a double meaning to his words, he didn’t let on. I wanted to tell him that I did find a lot to my liking and then some, but I didn’t.

“I guess all I have left to do is sign.”

“Yes, and once you do, you will no longer be my client.”

He almost seemed happy about the idea, and it annoyed me. The last thing I wanted was for our relationship to end, even if it was on a professional level. It made me think that I was all wrong about how he thought of me or looked at me. Maybe he looked at everyone that way, and I was just one of many women he flirted with and teased to get them to buy a house from him.

I didn’t want to believe it, but I didn’t know what else to think. Taking the pen off the counter, I quickly signed my name, agreeing that all the changes had been done and I had no other issues. I sighed as I pushed the paperwork away from me. “All done.”

Zach reached over and looked at the paperwork. He nodded his approval and then put the paperwork back down. As he did, I thought back to him walking towards me in the bathroom, and for some reason, it reminded me that I didn’t check to see if they fixed the leak in the sink in the master bathroom.

“Wait. I forgot to check the sink.”

“You did?”

I didn’t answer him but turned and walked back down the hallway and through the master bedroom to the bathroom. I opened up the doors below the sink and saw that they had installed new pipes and a washer, and there was no sign of any leak. Still, I turned on the water for a few seconds to make sure it was okay. When it looked to be in order, I stood up and turned around.

Zach was standing in the doorway.

“Everything okay?” he questioned.

“Yes. It’s good. No leak.”

“Then it’s official; you’re all good with the house? The only thing left to do is sign on the dotted lines. A lot.”

“Is there a lot of paperwork?”
