She took her things to the room and returned with her suitcase and the three dresses they’d bought for her. “I didn’t want to fold them, but if they need to be in a bag for the flight, I’ll do it.”

“I’ll take that,” Silas said behind her, making her flinch yet again. He chuckled and took the dresses out of her hand.

“Thank you. You should wear bells or something. You walk too quietly.” She instantly regretted her words as Mr. Seavey walked up to them.

Silas didn’t seem to mind though. He grinned and leaned forward taking her suitcase out of her hand. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

“The plane’s ready. We’ll be leaving now.”

It wasn’t a question or anything, so Gwen moved right away to get her purse with laptop and all. Silas was standing by the trunk while Rayen waited on her by the front door.

“Sorry.”

“No need to be, Gwendoline. Do you have everything?”

“Yes, I just wanted to be sure.”

He nodded and locked the door behind them before walking by her side to the car. She sat in the back with Silas next to her and Rayen in front while Mr. Seavey was driving as usual. No one said anything but she could definitely sense the tension between the three men. She was definitely not looking forward to the plane ride that already made her nervous anyway.

At the terminal the plane was already waiting for them, and they boarded right away. She nervously sat down on the chair she’d used just a few days ago and looked out the window. Subconsciously, she bit her lip as she tried to calm her racing heart.

The men took the same seats as before, with Rayen worryingly eyeing her. He didn’t say anything but kept his gaze on her. She forced herself to look out the window and try to make her body appear relaxed as the plane took off. She was clearly failing at making herself seem okay, because as soon as the plane was steady Rayen got up and walked to the bar.

He returned to her with a glass of wine. “Here, try to calm your nerves a bit.”

She was about to take it but saw Mr. Seavey’s facial expression and froze. Rayen turned and followed her gaze.

“Ms. Moore still has work to do later, this isn’t a vacation.”

Rayen’s face turned from worried to angry within a split second. “She won’t get drunk, Amon. She needs to calm her nerves unless you would like her to suffer for the next three hours?”

She would’ve thought Mr. Seavey would start arguing with Rayen. Then his face softened slightly before he looked back down at the file he’d been reading.

“Here, Gwendoline. Drink.”

She took the glass from him and sipped on it while looking out the window, watching the clouds pass by. She wasn’t much of a drinker, so she made sure not to drink too fast. It helped yet she could still sense the uncomfortable tension in the air.

Her gaze flickered to Mr. Seavey, who was immersed in whatever it was he was reading. His face and body slightly turned away from her. Even with the little she could see he was still upset, cold–still beautiful, but in a scary way. He always looked sleek in his tie and suit and even the one time she’d seen him in more casual clothes he’d looked breathtaking. Scary, but breathtaking.

“You should read to pass the time.”

Her eyes quickly moved to Silas who seemed far more relaxed than he normally was. His jawline had slightly softened and the way he was leaning onto the chair seemed less forced. He was actually quite cute with his bad boy aura, though she could sense he had a soft spot. Unlike Amon–cringe–who was just a chunk of ice.

She blushed, not because of what was going on in her head, but thinking about reading one of her romance books in front of them. Her last read had stopped right before a very particular act, and she wasn’t ready to read about two people having sex in front of her bosses.

“Maybe,” she said shyly.

“You’re making her blush, Silas,” Rayen chuckled.

“I wonder why. What do you usually read?”

She still hadn’t heard him say her name once, neither her first nor her last. While Rayen used her first name on purpose to tease a certain icy person on the plane, she felt as if Silas didn’t use hers on purpose.

“Romance.”

Rayen chuckled. “That explains the rosy cheeks.”

His words didn’t help her at all, only made the heat spread over her whole face. Silas though leaned forward seemingly intrigued.
