Chapter 1

Vincenzo

I watched her lift the champagne bottle, tilt it towards her mouth, and soak her string bikini with the bubbling remnants.

My friends surrounded me, helping me celebrate closing another property deal while my brothers pursued other activities—except Renato. He’d reserved the entire club, and one or two of the women here were most likely leaving with me.

A blonde rubbed my leg and gyrated next to me, tossing her head back and forth. I let her think she had control while I watched two other girls make out. I was ready to shove my dick down their throats.

Two of my security detail entered as I grabbed another bottle. A leader on my team buzzed updates into my earpiece. Furious at what I heard, I pushed the women aside and stood.

Thirty minutes later, I strode through the casino doors with my guards. Savio had called three times after receiving an alert from our team, but I’d let it go to voicemail. I needed answers before I spoke to my brother.

My blood ran cold. Who the fuck had the nerve to rob me and my family? Calabresi Casino opened three months ago, and security was tight around the clock. I’d vetted everybody we’d hired—hell, I’d made it my personal responsibility when we announced we were moving forward with our new business venture.

Wealth was important, but continuing the family legacy and proving we could do more than run illegal businesses was paramount.

Leaving the strip club early and cutting my celebrations short had put me in a foul mood.

“Where the fuck are they?” I growled, yanking open the door of the private employee entrance. I glanced at the security guard standing to the side with his head down and slammed my fist into his face.

“Vincenzo! Hold your temper for those who deserve it.” Renato patted me on the back, getting between the guard and me.

“I want everybody fired!” I yelled, ignoring my brother.

Renato shoved me into the elevator and pressed the button for the basement. He turned to me with a grin, and I flipped him off.

As the youngest son, my parents didn’t want me in the family business. I focused on our legal entities and had no complaints—until I got shot on a mission with my brother, Elio. I hadn’t told anyone, but the rush of fighting alongside my brothers and seeing the last breath leave our enemies’ bodies was a wake-up call. Savio had no clue, and I’d sworn Renato to secrecy when I joined him for runs after someone had mistaken our kindness for weakness.

Climbing off the elevator, I tugged on my trench coat, listening to the cries from our private security room where we handled personal matters. I snarled at the guard on duty. He stepped aside, not wanting to be on the receiving end of my wrath, and I stalked into the room. I scanned the faces before me, surprised to discover who had betrayed my trust.

Nyla’s long, golden locks were pinned in a high bun atop her head, her silky amber skin flushed. I edged closer, studying her deep brown eyes, which had captivated me since our first meeting.

Her shoulders dropped, and a whimper escaped her throat. “Please don’t kill us.”

“Us?” I smirked as I pulled out my gun.

“Look, we can pay you back!” The man in the chair beside her trembled, unable to move his bound hands and feet.

I cracked my neck. “Where’s my money?”

“I'll tell you if you let us go,” he countered, angling his body forward.

I looked at the woman and waved the gun between them. “Who is he to you?”

“My boyfriend,” she muttered, pressing her lips thin.

“You love him?” There was no reason for my question, and the confused look Renato sent me confirmed it.

“Y-Yes… Yes,” she stuttered.

I turned my attention to the man and pressed the gun to his forehead. “You love her?”

It didn’t matter. Getting my money back was the goal here.

He ignored my question. “I can get your money back.”

I raised the gun and brought it down on his face, causing him to bellow in pain. “I asked you a question!”
