“What I know is that you’ve disappeared and never returned my calls.” Nancy jumped out of the chair.

“My life has not been easy, and after Mark’s death I had to figure out how to pay off his debts.”

“She found a way,” Angelina hinted, pointing at Nyla’s ring finger.

Nancy’s eyes zeroed in on Nyla’s hand, then she reached out and snatched it. Nyla yanked it from her grip.

“He told me you would be the death of him one day. I begged him to leave you alone.”

“Same thing I said about him.”

“His entire life revolved around making you happy. I think it was your idea to rob him and set my son up,” Nancy claimed.

“You can believe whatever you want, but if you try my hand, I will get the police involved,” Nyla muttered, stepping in her face.

“Or what?” Nancy replied.

“Fuck around and find out, Nancy. My husband doesn’t play about me.”

After lifting her bag from the chair, Nancy stormed out of the restaurant. Not wanting her to get too far away, I nodded at my security and directed them to follow her.

“All of your threats won't work on me,” Angelina taunted, picking up the wine glass and taking a sip.

“If you want to walk out of here without a fight, I suggest you stand up,” Nyla voiced low.

“So, you can kill me?!” Angelina shouted.

I’d had enough of her childish antics. After taking out my gun, I placed it on the table and took a seat, pulling Nyla onto my lap. I stroked her cheek, gently brushed my lips on top of hers, then slowly crushed our lips together, guiding my tongue into her mouth.

“Vincenzo! Get the fuck away from her.” Angelina stretched her hand out to shove Nyla away.

On reflex, I raised the gun and shot her in the chest.

Nyla jumped in my lap. I laid the gun down and held her close. After standing, I grasped her wrist. I stared into Angelina’s eyes, watching the rise and fall of her chest.

“Nyla is right where she belongs. I warned you.”

“Vincenzo, people are looking,” Nyla whispered, gripping my arm and peering around the restaurant, half full. Shoving my gun away, guards picked up Angelina, dragging her out to the van we had on standby.

“Get their information and make sure that we have no issues,” I explained to the manager and hostess of the restaurant.

After helping Nyla into the back of the car, Renato appeared with Elio near the van. After kissing Nyla on top of her head, I stepped away to talk about clearing the restaurant out.

Elio glowered at the drama I created for him to clean up. “How many people saw what happened?”

“Enough to know we’ll either have to pay some off or handle them accordingly.”

“Cameras are probably installed,” Renato commented.

“All right. Anything else I have to fix?”

“Nancy was here with Angelina.”

Elio hiked a brow. “Nancy.”

“Mark’s mother.”

“You let her get away?”
