“No, I would rather not sit around a married couple making googly eyes.” Cassandra waved a hand at me.

“Best friend, I’m sorry I messed up our planned shopping trip.”

“Oh, I’m still shopping on your dime; I’ll just be alone,” Cassandra informed me.

I opened and closed my mouth, then snarled at Carter and Vincenzo for laughing at the scene.

“Get in the car.” Vincenzo helped me inside.

“Do you have a way to open the safe?”

“Were taking it to the source.”

“Right now?”

“No better time than the present.” He ran his hand up and down my thigh, then pecked me on the lips.

An older woman and a younger kid walked past our vehicle as we pulled out. He waved at the car, and she jerked him away to keep moving forward. I couldn’t fault her reaction at seeing four black Escalades in an upscale suburb during the day.

Chapter 23

Vincenzo

“We can do things the easy way, Gianney, or the hard way. Either way, you know you are dying today.”

I turned to look at Nyla off to the side, studying her reaction. After killing Cono, I thought she might close herself off and keep me away, but it only drew us closer.

Now, my chest was tight. We’d had Savio bring in all the leaders of the alliance to witness what was about to go down with Gianney. Renato already took care of the rest of the team. Duran pleaded for his life; Marciao only gloated. I appreciated his confidence, and how he hadn’t let his enemies see him on his knees.

“Fuck you and the rest of you motherfuckers that turned your back on me.” Gianney cursed, blood dripping down his eye, nose. Our men beat him up the first day after taking him from his office, starving him and Renato had fun torturing the rest. I straight kill them with a bullet and leave it alone.

I picked up a piece of the safe after it was blowtorched open. The flash drive was placed in the laptop. It displayed not only my family’s pictures, but Nyla growing up. Cono had made it his mission to have her followed. Even though he’d played like he didn’t care about her running off with Mark; all along, she was monitored.

“You let him kill your own brother. You’re just like him,” Gianney spat.

Nyla started to walk over, and Savio’s arm went up to stop her.

“Never speak to my wife. You talk to me, motherfucker.” I placed my hand around his neck and squeezed.

“Vincenzo!” Nyla shouted, and I froze, turning to look at her.

“My brothers thought that getting rid of Vivianna and your father would be the end of the Grecos in our business. Unfortunately, we learned it wasn’t enough. You’d better believe the entire Greco lineage will be wiped out by my orders.”

Gianney tried to wiggle out of the restraints.

“Duran, and the rest of your boys are dead, and I heard your grandmother in Boca is still alive in a nursing home.”

His eyes broaden in surprise.

“Yeah, I had everything about you traced, down to your blood type, bitch.”

Again, he tried to move, and the ties on his wrists and legs kept him in place.

I lifted the gun and checked the chamber. I turned around to face him again.

“Nyla, come here.”

Savio stepped to the side, and she appeared next to me. Taking her hand, I helped to grip the gun, pulling her to stand in front of me with her legs cocked open in a firm stance.
