“What if I take photos of me, on my knees, sucking your dick?” Nyla slid down to her knees in front of me.

I brought this untried naughty part of her senses to life. “What are you doing?”

“I want thank you properly.”

“First, we need to eat. I need to rest. Your pussy has my chest and arm aching.”

Nyla cackled at my reply. “Poor baby, I put that good pussy on you.”

“Keep talking.” I closed the door, and we walked hand-in-hand into the kitchen.

The chef had prepared some of Nyla’s favorites as a follow-up to her birthday.

“So much food, we won’t be able to eat all of it tonight.”

“Save some for tomorrow.”

“Let me fix your plate and then we’ll sit in the theater and watch movies for the rest of the night.”

I picked up a bottle of red wine, took two glasses with me, and listened to her plan her first photoshoots with the kids.

Chapter 24

Nyla

One Week Later

I stepped through the thick field of grass. I hadn’t been here in over five years, and I felt guilty. I bent to wipe the dirt from the double stone with both their names and a picture of us all together. While laying the flowers down, tears were already pooling in my eyes before I could get a word out. The sun was shining. It was a Saturday, right before we were going to fly out of the country.

“I miss you every day.”

Closing my eyes, I felt Vincenzo’s arms on my lower back, controlling my composure.

“Your little girl got married. Mom, Dad, this is Vincenzo.” He came up next to me, keeping his arm securely around my neck.

“Sorry I never came sooner, so much has happened, and I hate not being able to talk to you. I know the truth, and I still love you both. Vincenzo has helped me and even got me a therapist to talk with if I want.”

I ran a hand through my hair. “At 23, I have a family again, people who care about me. The Calabresis stepped in when I could barely hold myself up.”

I dropped to my knees, feeling a loud sob pierce my stomach.

Vincenzo came up behind me and rubbed my back.

“I wish you both were here.”

“They’re always with you, Nyla,” Vincenzo whispered in my war.

I nodded. “You’re right. My mom would tell me to stop crying and look up in the sky whenever I needed to talk to her.”

“She’s right.”

“When I get back from out of town, I promise to make it up to you and come visit more. I love you.” Kissing my first two fingers, I place them on the headstone. I stood up, holding his hand and walking back to the car.

“Do you need more time?”

“No, I needed to come here and let it out.”

“Once we get on the island, you can relax and enjoy yourself.” Vincenzo helped me in the SUV.
