“Well, I have to say going for the job interview did work out for me after all.”

Running a hand up to her neck, I glide it across her shoulder. “Glad I didn’t fire you when I had the chance.”

Nyla giggled and turned her head to peck me on the lips, moaning in my mouth.

“Mark did one thing right.”

“What’s that?” she asked.

“He brought you to me,” I answered.

Epilogue: Nyla

Six Months Later

After falling for Vincenzo, discovering the real him and how his family dynamics worked made me love him even more. Unlike his older brothers, he wasn’t good or bad; the decisions he made were based on protecting himself and the people he loved.

After slipping off the house shoes that I kept under my desk, I double-checked my makeup in the mirror and gazed at the diamond ring on my hand. Thinking back to our wedding reception in Greece brought back wonderful memories that I planned on reliving every year that we were married.

Vincenzo’s trust in me gave me more purpose to work my ass off and show him that I could be the rock he needed beside him. I no longer worried about his decisions because the best gift he could have given me was renewing our vows.

Scanning the pictures on the wall from our picnic made me happy. I got him to put up a few without a hassle.

He was off to New York and New Jersey for a scheduled meeting with his cousin Bosco to see about opening a casino in Atlantic City and look into the security structure that he would need.

“I thought I’d find you here.” Cassandra stood in the doorway.

“Come in, girl.”

“How long have you been working today?” Cassandra scrunched down in the seat.

“Since eight. What are you doing here?”

“Came to surprise you for lunch.”

“I have too much work,” I said, waving my hand around the desk.

“Vincenzo’s assistant said you haven’t eaten since breakfast this morning, when you rushed out to handle a photo shoot,” Cassandra fussed.

I scratched the back of my neck. Vincenzo and I both led busy lives, and I was slacking on spending time with Cassandra or any of the girls. I knew my best friend missed me. My photography business was going so well; I even had local mom-and-pop stores hiring me.

“Who told you I was here anyway?”

“The girls.”

All of the wives loved Cassandra, and she’d become one of the crew. Now we hang out as a group along with Cora’s friends.

“Y’all always in my business.”

Smirking, I said, “But that’s why you love me.”

“Love, way those options,” I joked.

“Hush, Vincenzo has you spoiled.”

I scooted back, stood up and walked to the filing cabinet, and put away the last stack of reports Vincenzo had left.

The first thing out of his mouth when I told him to let me handle the office at Calabresi Holdings was that I only had to do it for a few hours, and then go home. He wasn’t against me working in general, but I liked being around the people at the casino and doing my own thing with my photos.
