“We came to the westside to find the loan shark lover boy owed money to, and guess who it is?”

“Who?”

“Gianney Greco.”

Renato was quiet for a moment. “Gianney Greco. Why do I know that name?”

“You know Gianney Greco?”

“Come to the house. We can’t talk over the phone. We need to regroup,” Renato ended the call.

I watched as the police put Nyla in the back of the police cruiser, debating whether to follow after them or meet with Renato. I opted for the safest option and headed home.

Hours later, Savio, Renato, and I sat in Pop’s study while Elio tried to find out if Nyla was still in police custody.

Savio frowned. “She said Gianney Greco?”

I nodded. “Yeah. Is that name familiar to anyone?”

“I thought you handled Greco’s people.” Pops looked at Renato.

Renato puffed his cigar. “We did. Most of his family in Miami and a few here.”

“When Victoria pulled that shit with Mckayla, I had her taken care of,” Savio remarked.

“Must be a long-lost relative. How is he connected to Mark and Nyla?” Pops inquired.

“Her boyfriend robbed the casino,” I said, keeping it simple.

“Nyla said he owed money to Greco.” Renato backed me up.

“Cono Sartori is her uncle?” Pops ran a hand through his gray hair. At almost 80, he didn’t look a year over 65. Madre kept him young, with varied activities and spending time with all the grandkids. They expected all of us to have a lot of grandkids, but since I was the youngest at 25, kids were the last thing on my mind.

“I plan on meeting Cono tomorrow,” I confirmed.

Savio shook his head. “It’s best if I meet with him.”

“It’s my casino,” I snapped.

“Vincenzo!” Pops barked.

“Go ahead. Take his side, as usual,” I scoffed.

Savio frowned. “No sides here. I’m your brother and Don of the family.”

“Thought you retired,” I grumbled.

“He still has a say in how the family is run. You need to work together when a problem arises,” Pops pointed out.

I blew out a frustrated breath. “I can handle my own business.”

Savio pursed his lips. “Yeah, which is how she got away.”

Renato elbowed Savio. “Bro, relax. He’s our brother.”

“Let him say what he wants.” I shrugged. “Newsflash, I don’t need another father.”

I rose from the chair to leave, but Renato stalled me with a hand on my arm.
