Having everything in order and sticking to my routine is the way I cope with my past. It keeps the nightmares contained. I can’t let them out. I’m already scared enough of the shadows as it is. When I remember, they overtake my world.
Which is why I call my family for help when I’m stranded on the side of the road and fear is stretching toward me and about to swallow me. I’m assured that the man coming to help me is a friend, someone my brother-in-law, Ryder, trusts. I didn’t expect he would take my breath away…or chase away my demons.
Theo revs my engine, but I can’t imagine that I’m enough for a man like him. Saving me when I’m stranded isn’t the only thing he does. He makes me feel whole and I give my trust and my body to him. I can only hope my past won’t taint my future and he won’t break my heart.

For so long all I’ve had is my business. Restoring old cars is a passion I got from my father. It’s opened doors for me and given me a purpose, but the older I’ve gotten the more I realize it hasn’t given me much else. I didn’t realize a friendship I forged over a metal frame would bring my woman into my life, one I can’t live without.
When I get the phone call to help Sarah, it only takes one look into her vulnerable eyes to know I’ll do anything to get her to trust me. She’s haunted and quiet, living in her head more than experiencing life. I plan to show her how good living can be while getting her to fall for me.
I’m going to make Sarah mine. I’ll pop her hood and fix her car. I’ll shelter her. I’ll love her. I’ll show her just how good I am with my hands and then I’m never letting her go.
