As the owner of Mercury Slice, Mercury Ridge’s best pizzeria, I have a love/hate relationship with St. Patrick’s Day. It’s one of our busiest days of the year, which means it’s good for business, but it’s always a long, hard night—and with this much green beer flowing, anything can happen. But with Jared by my side, I know everything will be fine.
And that’s the problem. I’ve come to rely on him too much. And one of these days, he’s going to move on. He’ll fall in love with someone else and have a life that’s separate from mine. But I just can’t seem to let him go.
Every now and then, Jared gets a hungry look in his eyes, and I can’t help but wonder if he wants me the way that I want him. Who knows? Maybe this St. Patrick’s Day, I’ll finally get lucky.
