“Aww. Willy. You brought tears to my eyes.” Hamish teased and Riley shot him a glare.

“Watch it, pretty boy. I have no issues fighting you.” He said and I sighed.

“I am literally trembling in my boots at the thought,” Hamish said with a pretend shiver, and I wanted to smack him.

“Careful. Your next coffee might just have a little something extra in it.” Riley said with an evil grin and I stood, pulling their attention away from each other.

“I’m going to pack then shower. I need time to think about what I want to know from Victor.” I said as I walked away.

Victor was the key, I knew it. I finally felt like we were getting somewhere, and things would be sorted out.

But my intuition told me I wouldn’t like what I found out.

Forty seven

Katerina

Istared at the front of my house as Leo pulled into the driveway. It felt like a lie now.

It had always been a lie really. My way of trying to pretend I was someone else, a woman who could have the best of both worlds when the reality was, I never would.

“At least my driveway is ready,” Hamish said from the backseat, and I snorted.

“Sorry about that,” I muttered as I got out of the car, Leo and Hamish following.

“No, you aren’t,” Hamish said with a grin and I rolled my eyes.

We had dropped Riley off at the café on the way here so he could check in on things. Leo needed to go to the gym too, but he was a little more hesitant to face Tamika after avoiding the calls and I wanted to be there for that confrontation.

“HAMISH!” A woman shouted from his front door and Hamish winced.

“Fuck.” He muttered before he plastered a smile on his face.

“Hello, mother.” He said in a voice that made me want to gag.

“Where have you been?” She snapped as she marched over to him, and I watched as another woman came through the front door with a calculating look.

She looked at me and her eyes narrowed with disgust before she smiled sweetly at Hamish and walked over to him with purpose.

“Hamish, darling. We have been so worried about you. The wedding plans are in absolute chaos.” She said with a pointed stare at me.

She must be Claudia.

Hamish glanced at me and I raised my eyebrows, shrugging slightly. I would be nice. I could play the game if I had to.

“Mother, this is Katerina. Katerina, this is my mother, and this is Claudia.” Hamish said and they both looked at me with pure venom.

“This is where you have been? Off with some woman?” His mother said with a tone of disgust.

“Well, Hamish I understand the bachelor need to sow your oats before settling down. I just hope you used protection and will get tested now you are back.” Claudia said and I narrowed my eyes at her.

Did this bitch just call me a dirty whore without saying the words?

I went to step toward him when Leo’s arm wrapped around my waist.

“Don’t cause a scene. Let him handle this mess. He dug the grave.” Leo added with a smirk, and I glared at him.

“Sharing? Well, I never. Hamish Proffitt. You cannot parade around this neighborhood with your whore. Take her back from where she came from.” His mother snapped and I shoved Leo off me.
