“Hey. Katerina. You’re okay.” Leo murmured, grabbing my shoulders until I looked at him.

“Take a breath.” He said, hands firm on my shoulders as he frowned at me.

I inhaled; my breath shaky as I continued to gulp down the air.

“That’s it. You’re okay. Sit down for a minute.” He said, pointing to the bench seat where my stuff sat.

He crouched in front of me, concern etched on his face.

“That wasn’t the reaction of someone who needs a little self-defense to feel safe at night. That was the reaction of a woman who has been attacked. Are you in some kind of trouble?” He asked gently and I almost laughed at the kindness.

“I’m fine. I just need to learn how to stop it from happening again.” I said and he frowned, then nodded.

He walked over to the small desk with a computer and picked up a business card, writing on the back.

“Okay. Look, I don’t usually do this, but something tells me you need a friend. If you ever need anything, just give me a call.” He handed me the business card and I looked at the mobile number scrawled across the surface.

“Let’s do this again the same time next week?” He added and I nodded, turning the card over and over in my hand.

“Hey. I’m sorry if I upset you. I’ll be more cautious next time.” He said softly and I sighed as I grabbed my bag.

“No. I don’t need soft. I need someone who will help me not to react.” He studied me as I put my jacket on before one of the women who worked at the reception came over with a flirty smile.

She ignored me as she stared at Leo, her tight gym clothes leaving nothing to the imagination, and I noticed the subtle way she arched her back.

I tried not to roll my eyes at her, her high-pitched honeyed voice making me wince as I left.

The man was a magnet for the gym girls here.

My phone rang as I walked to my car, and I winced at the name that flashed on the screen.

“Victor. What do you want?” I said as I slid behind the wheel.

“You have to come in. We need to discuss the assets.” He said and I sighed. I had been avoiding this meeting for weeks now.

“You can’t keep hiding, Katerina. Just because you killed the man does not mean you get it all. The others want to discuss the division. The meeting is set for Friday. Be there.” He said as he hung up.

Victor was a thorn in my side and had no issues talking to me like he was my boss. But then, the man did that to everyone so I couldn’t take it personally.

It wasn’t the division of assets that concerned me, it was being in a room with the men who clearly wanted me dead.

I couldn’t go alone, I had to take someone to watch my back, but I didn’t trust any of them. I looked down at the card in my hand, an idea forming.

I got back out of the car and walked through the gym, ignoring the fake smiles on the woman’s face at the reception desk.

“Miss. If you are back to see Leo, he is busy. You will need to wait for your next appointment.” She said as she followed me.

I grit my teeth but ignored her and walked towards Leo who was on the mat with another client.

He saw me approaching, his eyes widened a moment before he said something to his client who nodded and walked to her water bottle.

She blatantly stared at his ass as he turned towards me, his eyes darting to the girl next to me.

“Sorry, I tried to tell her she had to wait.” She said with a touch to his arm. He smiled politely, eyes never leaving mine.

“Thanks, Tamika. It’s fine.” He waited and we both stared at Tamika who huffed a breath and walked away.

“Everything okay?” He asked and I glanced at his client.
