“Wicked woman.” I gasped as I stood taller and sucked my fingers that had been buried inside her.

“You taste like sin. My favourite.” I said on a cough as I rubbed my throat.

“It will take more than a peace offering of lingerie and dirty words to win me over, Hamish. Don’t forget who you are dealing with.” She said before she opened the door and walked out, stark naked.

I stood there, throat aching like hell and grinned.

She was fucking perfect. I think I was falling in love with her.

I walked out a few minutes later to see the other three idiots grinning and shaking their heads.

“Pay up. I told you she would hit him.” Riley said as he gestured to Leo and Alexsei.

“You placed bets?” I snapped as I went to the freezer to find something to ice my throat.

“Yeah. I bet that she would hit you. Alexsei said she would stab you. Leo was running with murder. Doesn’t have a whole lot offaith in you.” Riley said with a grin, and I rolled my eyes then glared at Alexsei.

“I thought we were friends.” I said as I pressed a bag of peas to my throat.

“We are. But in our world, getting stabbed is a form of love language.” He said with a shrug then took a bottle of vodka and walked outside.

“We need to find Victor. He is the key. He has more information than he is letting on and if he is dealing with Egor too, then it means he knows something that we don’t.” I looked at Alexsei, unsure how much I could trust him as I remembered my last encounter with Victor.

“You were there the day I went to meet him. What do you know about his involvement?” I asked and he shrugged.

“Not much more than you do. I was there because the men were already going, regardless. I took over the operation and went on point because I wanted to take the first shot to give you a warning. I hadn’t spoken to Victor before that, but I do know Egor was looking into the paperwork he had. Paperwork connected to your trust fund.” He said and I stiffened.

“What do you mean?” I whispered and he raised an eyebrow at me.

“I can’t give you any more than that, that’s all I know. He told me on the day of the funeral that you couldn’t see those files so he was going to work with Victor to transfer some things around first before divvying up Ivan’s assets.” He said and I frowned.

“That doesn’t make sense. Why would Konstantin want to remove assets if he is planning on marrying me to seize them anyway?” I mused and Alexsei shook his head.

“I don’t know but I don’t think Konstantin is aware of everything Egor does either. There is something else we are missing.” He said and I sighed.

“Victor is the key. We need to get eyes on him and it’s hard for me to do that here.” I said with frustration. I hated being couped up.

I hated running. It made me look weak and weak was a death sentence in this world, but I also knew it was foolish to be in the open until I knew exactly where the attack was coming from and Konstantin was a problem.

“I’ll chat to Theo and Mikhail and see what we can get sorted out,” Riley said and I nodded as Leo stood with a stern look.

“We can’t do anything about that right now. Let Riley take care of things and you and I are going to do some training.” He said and I narrowed my eyes.

“Why? I survived being taken again. I think I’ll stick to guns and knives.” I said as I pat the knife strapped to my thigh.

“Uh-huh. Even still. I’ll feel better knowing you won’t have an instant freeze moment if you get attacked from behind.” He continued and I went to protest when Riley chimed in.

“I would too, Kat. I’ve been doing some training with Leo as well. But I think he is right. You are the boss, that means you need to know every way to defend yourself, even from yourself.” He added and I glanced at Hamish and Alexsei who were nodding along.

“Fine.” I gritted out and Riley smiled as he walked past me.

“Good girl. I’ll make you a coffee so you can relax with it after.” He murmured and I cursed my stupid body for reacting first to his praise, then to its weakness for caffeine, especially when Riley made it.

“Come on,” Leo said as we walked outside.
