“Thank you, but wait until you see the bassinet in our room. It's a bed made for a princess.” I smile at him.

“Of course she is a princess, she's our princess. I’d like to add my own decorating points. I'll defer to you on how to incorporate them.”

“Whatever you want, honey.”

“I want those camera baby monitors, but with a Timothy touch to them, and I'd like a picture of my mum and yours for her to see. Timothy is also going to need to put a camera in your room so I can keep an eye on you for seizures.”

“Oh, of course. As for the camera in here, Maya's been trying to talk me into one too. Do you really need to put a camera in my room? Also, can I ask when did you lose your mum, Joshua?”

“I didn't lose my mum. She lives in Surrey, near the pub where we met. That's why I was in the area that day. Yes, you need a camera in your room, or I’m moving in there with you. You heard the doctor.”

“Why didn't you invite her to come up here with the rest of us?” I avoid the camera in my room discussion. I want him to move into my room with me, but I’m afraid to ask. Is it too soon?

“Because if she's followed it would be bad, she knows I'm okay. I send her messages that are untraceable, and I call her every so often.”

“Joshua, you don't want her here to see your daughter?” I'm worried he doesn't want me to meet her.

“Actually, I haven't had a chance to tell her about Isabella yet. She'll be excited. She's wanted grandkids for a while now. She will love you. I'd love to figure out how to get her here, but Timothy and I are still working on it. Her security detail says she's being constantly watched.”

“Oh my God, Joshua, I've put your mum in danger. I'm so sorry.”

“Angel, calm down, she's had a security detail for years now. I'll explain later. As for her being watched, it's Jonathan's men sometimes, and sometimes another wanker. I'll never let that wanker near any of the women in my life again, including you and my daughter. Okay? Calm down and breathe, Angel.”

“Okay.” I'm still not happy, but I want to hear the story behind the other man. I wish Jonathan would just go away.

“Now look, Duncan and Ian finished the changing station, time for your blood pressure check and a nap. Say goodbye to everyone, Angel.” I want to argue, but I also want to be with him by myself with no machine to tattle on me.

“Thank you, everyone. Maya, come over tomorrow, please, and we can put everything away and make up the crib.”

“Okay, girl. Are you in that nesting phase already?” She laughs as she hugs me.

“Timothy, I’ll call you shortly to come back and take measurements for the camera in Ana’s room,” Joshua says as Timothy exits the room. I see him nod and I again avoid the camera discussion.

Everyone else walks over to say goodbye to me. Duncan and Ian set up a meeting with Joshua the next morning, and they all leave. Joshua bends down to pick me up and heads for the adjoining door. He steps over the threshold into my room.

“Angel, you've got quite a flair for decorating,” he says as he admires the room.

“I hope so, that’s what I ended up studying at university.”

I look at the room. There's a large cherry wood four-poster bed with wrought iron across the top in case I wanted a canopy. The walls are a deep purple on the top and white below the chair rail. The bedding is a very fluffy white with purple accents and purple throw pillows. The bed is high off the floor and requires me to use a step. The floors are a light wood with purple throw rugs, and all the furniture is cherry. I love the room. It has color and is exactly what I like. On the wall over the bed is a large charcoal drawing of an angel wing. Duncan and Derek hung it there after the fight we had last month. I left it there because they were right, it fits there and it holds so many memories.

“Angel, that drawing is beautiful. Where did you get it?”

“I did it. It was one of my first large charcoals that I framed. I did that one for my final grade in one of my art classes. Daddy had it in storage, and when he escaped, he brought it with him. Daddy said he'd have to kill Jonathan, because Jonathan would destroy it.” I can't tell him that it means so much more to me now than just a drawing.

“Why are you quiet all of the sudden?” He looks down at me, his left eyebrow arched.

“Nothing. If it's too girly, we can change it. Also if it's too much purple, we can talk about some changes, but I really like purple.”

“No, the purples are okay.” He carries me to the bed and smiles as he sits me down on it, then grabs the bags from the hospital Maya brought in here. He pulls out the blood pressure cuff and stethoscope. He sits next to me to take my blood pressure.

“You know how to do that?”

“Yes. In the military we needed to be field medic trained. It's good. Now lie back and get some rest. I'm going to find this study you offered me.” He kisses my forehead.

“Will you lie down with me?” I ask him quietly.

“Only for a little bit. You need some rest, and having you in bed with me gives me ideas.” I see the passion in his eyes. He is burning me up.
