“Don't you want to marry him now?” My eyebrows drop in concern.

“Oh, I do want to marry him. I would have married him the day he asked. He's everything, I just like to push his buttons. One of his biggest buttons is his jealousy, he likes to make sure everyone knows I'm his.”

“Well then, let's get this wedding over with.”

We head toward the door, I open it and see the same man from before standing in the hall. When he sees me, he immediately turns and walks in the other direction. Huh, I was going to say hello. Maya pushes me aside to look into the hall before we go out.

“Ana, you know I have to clear the hall before you go out.”

“But you have Isabella. There was only the man who's been watching me the last few days. Did you hire some new people? I don't recognize him.”

“What? What man? Where?” She fires off her questions rapidly as she pushes me back in the room with Isabella. She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a little tube, and starts talking but not to me. “Need backup to Ana’s room, we have a bogey on the floor after it was cleared. I've secured both high values.”

“Who are you talking to and what did that all mean?” I'm starting to get scared and walk to Isabella. I start to unbuckle her to hold her in my arms.

“Leave her in her seat, we're going to make a run for the elevator. Joshua is on his way up. I was talking to the guys.”

“It was just a guy. He looked familiar, and he was just looking around. Maybe he was lost. I thought he worked for you because I've seen him a couple times now.”

“This floor was cleared except for hospital personnel. Come back here, we'll wait for Joshua and Derek.” She walks Isabella and me to the back of the room and goes to stand by the door herself.

“The other guys are here? What's going on?” I stand next to Isabella's car seat and wait. Maya is next to the door with her back to me. There is a soft knock and Maya reaches to her back. I catch the glint of a knife.

“Put it away, Maya, it's me,” Joshua says from the other side of the door.

She opens the door and smiles at him as she slides the knife back into her belt. The knife was a long one, similar to one Joshua carries once in a while. I always forget how many weapons she carries on herself, she's a walking arsenal. I want to rush into Joshua's arms but stay with Isabella. He walks right to me and pulls me in, kissing the top of my head.

“Okay, Angel, you and Maya are going to go down in the elevator. Derek and Ian are going to search the hospital. I'll go with you and Maya to protect you. Was it Jonathan or one of his guys, Maya?” he asks, directing his attention to Maya.

“I didn't see him. Ana opened the door before I could clear the hall.” She nods her head to me. He pulls back to look at me.

“I'm sorry, I didn't know I had to be careful here. I thought it was okay and I was excited to go home. Besides I've seen him watching me before, so I thought he was a new guy.”

“Angel, I understand, but yours and Isabella's safety is our biggest concern. Who did you see? And what do you mean he's been watching you?”

“It wasn't one of Jonathan's men. I’ve never seen him before, but he looked familiar. He’s taller than you, maybe six four, close cropped brown hair with gray sprinkled within. He has a five o’clock shadow, a bit shorter than yours. Oh no, Joshua, I know why he looked familiar. Wait, look.” I reach into the outside pocket of the nappy bag and pull out my sketch pad, and immediately turn to his picture. “He has your eyes. It was your father.” Joshua looks down and starts cussing.

“Bloody hell. Maya, you take lead, I'm calling Derek to help you. I'm going to have to look for him.” He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the same device Maya did earlier, and starts talking into it. “Hey, Derek, get up here, you're escorting the high values out. We're looking for Nathan, people, be on your toes and very careful. If he corners you, let him know you work for me.”

“No, Joshua, please don't leave me. I'm scared, and I want you with us.” I grab onto his shirt. I can't lose him. Something irrational takes over me, and I cling to him.

“Angel, baby, I'll be okay, he won't hurt me. At least I don't think he will. I need to know why he's here. I love you. Go with Maya and Derek. They'll kill to protect you and won't think before they shoot someone for you. I'll be right behind you once we clear the hospital.” He growls something, reaches into his pocket again and starts communicating with the team. “Ian, lock your shit up and search the hospital, I don't care if you run into her. Find him and detain him if you can. Dammit.”

“I love you, Joshua, please come home to us. He asked me if you would kill to protect her,” I whisper up to him as I hug him tightly. He pulls back and looks down to me.

“How long was he out there?” His eyebrow jut up.

“No, he asked me that the other day when he was watching Isabella and me.”

“Bloody hell. He's had access to you for days.”

“Joshua, please come home to me,” I beg.

“Always, Angel.” He leans down and kisses me, his hands burying into my hair to pull me tighter to his chest. We hear the knock on the door but ignore it. He pulls back to look over his shoulder to Derek. “Protect them, man.”

“With my life.” He nods to us. “Maya, you carry the baby behind me. Ana, you next, and, Bossman, you got the tail until we get in the elevator. Sound good? Maya, if someone happens to get past me, you won't be able to shoot with the baby, but you'll have your other skills.”

“No one will get past me or you, brother. Let's go.” We head out of the room.
