“Don't bother, she and Meghan aren't there. Raul called. They disappeared during the night. I need to find them.”

“Who are Rebekah and Meghan?” Ana asks.

“Rebekah’s the receptionist at our office. Her husband was in our unit when we were in the military. He didn't come home, so we all keep an eye on Rebekah and Meghan.”

“Now because of me, they're in danger.”

“No, Angel, I should've pulled her from the office, but she won't take a handout and insists on working. It was my call to keep her working.”

“Boss, you didn't know they would go after her. Does Duncan know they're missing yet?” Ian asks

“Does Duncan know who's missing?” a gruff voice says from the door. When he sees his sister and Bella he visibly calms.

“Rebekah and Meghan are missing, along with my mum and Michael.” The whole room instantly erupts with everyone talking at once.

“Enough!” I yell, and the room quiets except for the now crying of my daughter. “Look what you bloody people made me do. Is she okay, Angel?” I look at Ana and smile at her. She has tears in her eyes.

“I'm going to nurse her, but, honey, your mum?” I watch her pull on one of her nursing covers as she positions Bella to her breast. No one can see what is going on under that cover, but I'm instantly turned on, as usual, watching her care for our daughter.

“I'll find them all, Angel.”

“Who took Rebekah and Meghan?” Duncan asks.

“Are we talking about the receptionist at the London office? Why would she be taken? And, who is Meghan?” Maya asks him. The room quiets as he looks at her.

“Yes, Rebekah’s the receptionist at our office. Remember meeting her? Meghan is her five year old daughter and my goddaughter. Rebekah's husband was killed when Meghan was a baby. I promised Christopher I'd keep an eye on them, he was my best friend from grammar school.”

“Oh no, not Christopher Anderson?” Ana says.

“Yes, Ana. Maya, Rebekah is just a friend, but Meghan is important to me. I swore to protect them. If it had been me, Christopher would have done it for me.”

“Okay, honey, then we find them both because they're important to me now,” Maya says as she takes Duncan's hand.

“What happened?” He looks at me, and I feel the anger coming off him.

“Raul called and said they are all missing. He’ll be calling me back shortly. He had eyes on Nathan and knew where Bradley was. If Mr. Smith did this, I'll kill him.”

“You and me both,” he vows. Just then my cell rings.

“What now, Raul?”

“Bradley is dead. Looks fresh, maybe a few hours. I went to his apartment to confront him. He had a bullet in his head. I left no trace I was there.”

“Okay. Track down Nathan before he goes to ground.”

“He didn't do this, it was someone else, another professional.”

“Damn, there are more players in this game. Where are Jonathan and his lackeys?”

“They've been holed up at Jonathan's flat for the last twenty-four hours. He got a call from someone yesterday and pulled out of the office in a hurry. Something scared him.”

“Okay, not to doubt your abilities, Raul, but if Nathan goes to ground, you won't find him again, get to him now.”

“Yes, boss, I'll be radio silent for a while.”

“Be careful. If he gets near you, tell him you work for me. That might save your life. Don't let him get his hands on you.”

“Okay. I got this.”
