“Maya, congratulations on the wedding. I also hear that congratulations are due a couple times over to you, Ana. Newly divorced, a mother, and finally completely free of that asshole.”

“Thank you,” we both say.

“So I'm going to assume we have an audience again.”

“Yes, we're in London and need to get access to the safety deposit boxes. We were unable to call you after Ana's birthday and my wedding.”

“Not a problem, ladies. Okay, Metropolitan Safe Depository Knightsbridge location is holding a safety deposit box. James has the card, and your pin is your birth dates in order of oldest to youngest. Duncan, your letter is in the box too, in addition to your inheritance. I have made arrangements to move the money into each of your names. Ana, I need to talk to you.”

“Yes, sir.” I'm nervous about what he could possible say to me.

“Ana, do you want me to tell you this in private?”

“I'm not sure what you're going to say but I trust these people, so tell me.”

“Very well. First, when you find a man worthy to be your husband, and I suspect you have, he will get a marriage dowry too. Second, in your combined box is a card for a second box. That box is for you and your brother. The pin number is your parents’ anniversary. Cara figured you kids deserved to have a piece of your mother, and the proof that she was murdered and how you survived the crash.”

“What?” everyone exclaims.

“How did she have that?” Duncan asks.

“Cara hired the best and was like a hound finding the truth. I believe Maya is just like her mother.” I start crying. How did this happen? How did Cara find what father couldn't?

“Thank you, Mr. Townsend.”

“Don't thank me yet, this is going to put a bigger target on all of you. This goes deeper than any of you know. Cara and Isabella's murderer has many partners, not just Jonathan. I've been in hiding since you called me back in July. Please be on the lookout for other players, both good and bad. I still have one more individual to find to complete Cara’s wishes. Please be safe, and please keep them safe to you others there. Cara was my dearest friend, I want to see him put to justice.”

“What do you mean another individual to find, David?” James asks.

“There's another beneficiary, I only found out about them right before Cara died. She gave me a name, but I can't tell you yet. When the time is right, you'll know, Maya. If something ever happens to me there will be someone in contact with you, they'll have the information you need.” With that cryptic message, he hangs up.

Joshua is holding me, while Duncan has his arm around a silent Maya.

Joshua

I look at my angel and worry that this stress is only going to get worse. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. I look to James and suspect he's having issues processing all this too.

“Timothy, do you have all the evidence from James processed?”

“Yes, but now with David saying there is more information, do you still want me to tell you?”

“Yes, a preliminary report please.”

“Okay.”

“How about you, Ian?”

“Oi'.”

“Are you all ready to go over this? Or do you want to wait?” I know I can't force Ana, Maya, Duncan, or James to go through this, they have to choose this.

“Timothy, you first, if the girls and Father agree. I want to finally hear this report about my mum's accident and how Ana was able to survive a car rolling six times.” The whole room pauses to look at her as Duncan makes that statement.

“I need to know how I survived and Mum died.”

“I'm ready to begin, Timothy,” James states.

“Okay, the accident was on November eighteen, nineteen eighty-eight at approximately nineteen hundred, just this side of Bere Regis. The car was driving approximately one hundred and twenty kilometers in a one hundred kilometer area. Mrs. Preston was driving a brand new Audi V8 sedan with Ana buckled in the backseat. She rammed into the back of a trailer hauling hay and rolled six times through a hay field. It was a dry, cloudy evening at about one degrees Celsius. That's what the official police report says. James has documentation from a private investigator stating the brake line was partially cut, so it leaked until it blew before she hit the trailer. The operator of the trailer said it took him a few minutes to stop and when he did, a man was running up to him carrying a crying Ana. He said he saw the car seat in the back but didn't see the guy take her out of it. The Audi impacted the trailer, veered off the road, and rolled six times before it came to rest on its tires in the hayfield next to the road. Both were rushed to the hospital. Ana had no injuries, and Isabella was declared dead en route to the hospital. The guy who rescued Ana was described as an Irishman about six foot four, large framed with brownish hair and unsure about eye color. He never gave his name and disappeared before the police or ambulance made the scene. According to witnesses, he handed Ana over to the driver of the truck and left. Another witness said a dark colored BMW was parked in a pull off with a second man behind the wheel. His description is sketchy at best, about the same height but skinnier, the car headed south.”
