“But all those years of trying to fill that void in my heart with empty, meaningless sex only ended up serving to highlight my feelings for Loren. And now that I know what real love feels like, I’m never going to be able to settle for anything less again. I mean, I bought her a freaking minivan.”

He blows out a breath and regards me for a minute. “Fine. I’ll be more supportive. But I want to be the twins’ godfather.”

I cringe. “Too late, man. We’ve already done a clean swap with JD and Ten.”

He frowns. “That dude gets everything.”

“Tell me about it.”

“What about the next kid?”

“If I can convince your sister to sleep with me again after this, you’re on.”

He wrinkles his nose in distaste. “And you’ve gotta quit being gross in front of me.”

“I’ll try, but I can’t make any promises,” I say with a smirk.

“Whatcanyou promise, then?”

“To … love, honor, and respect Loren. To give her my loyalty and fidelity for the rest of our lives, in sickness and health. You know, the usual?”

He waves his hand in annoyance. “Oh, I’ve got it. Can you convince her to let me stay in her old house?”

I furrow my brow as I consider it. Loren’s never going to want to move back into her place if Landry’s there.

“As long as you don’t crowd us once the babies are born or try to hit on my sister-in-law, you’ve got a deal.” We shake on it and head back inside, joining Loren and her mom again as a waitress brings out dessert.

“What’s this?” Loren asks curiously when a slice of cheesecake appears in front of her.

“Your emotional-support peanut butter,” I tell her.

She beams at me and offers a kiss before digging in, sighing and doing a happy dance at the first bite. I watch as she interacts with her brother when he asks her a question, then while she takes another forkful of peanut butter cheesecake into her mouth and pulls the fork out slowly and seductively.

Wait, no—I’m sure that’s just my fault for staring too hard. Except she turns to me with a knowing smirk.

“What’s wrong? Do I have something on my face?” she asks, batting her eyelashes innocently.

I smile as I reach up and wipe an imaginary bit of food from her bottom lip, and she squirms in her chair. I bring my thumb up to my mouth and she licks her lips.

“Ugh, I’d say ‘get a room’ but we all know you’re not allowed,” Landry chimes in after a second, and I shoot him a dirty look. “I mean, you guys are adorable. You should totally get hitched,” he adds dryly.

Loren glares at him strangely, then she gets up from her seat and plops down into my lap, her belly bumping the table before she leans in for another kiss that’s just long enough to make Landry groan and her mother laugh.

And that’s all the confirmation I need. I want to marry this woman, more than anything I’ve ever wanted before.

As soon as she moves back to her seat to finish her dessert, I slip my phone from my pocket and pull up a text thread with my brother.

Blake

How would you feel if I gave away Mom’s ring?

I grin to myself and set my phone down, but it begins buzzing right away.
