“Well, my parents pay for things too. I just want to have savings for when it’s time for college.”

“How sensible of you.”

“Well, there’s that, and I like to splurge on baking supplies.”

“Sounds more like it.”

Parker moves onto the next empty booth and sprays the table surface. “So you’re really joining us on the camping trip?”

“Sure.” I shrug. “It’ll be my first time camping.”

“You really are an adventure newbie.”

“Well, I need to try if I want Lewis’s attention, right?”

“That’s the spirit.”

“But maybe Lewis and Yvette will be broken up by then and I won’t have to go.”

“Green, you’ll still have to go.” Parker smirks. “You want to be Lewis’s girlfriend, don’t you? He’ll want his girl on the trip with us.”

I blow out a quick breath. “Oh, yeah, right.”

He tugs on my ponytail. “Don’t worry. You’ll survive camping.”

I whip my hair away, smoothing back the loose hairs.

He smiles, flicking the spray bottle around his finger by the trigger. “So, are you coming with us to the skatepark after your shift?”

“Is that a trick question?”

“No. Lewis and Yvie will be there. Aren’t you dying to know what’s been happening between them this morning?”

I hold my stomach and swallow hard. “I don’t think I’ll be able to handle the knowledge.”

“Well, I need to know.” He pats my arm. “And I need my girlfriend by my side.”

I pinch the bridge of my nose, feeling a dizzy spell brewing.

Parker traces a finger under my chin. “Don’t you want to see Lewis?”

I lower my hand. “Yes, I do.”

“So you’ll come?”

“I’ve got to be crazy, but yes. They’ve already spent too much uninterrupted time together.”

He pulls a fist down in triumph. “Yes. Glad to have you on my team.”
