“Hey, if it helped you get closer to Lewis, it’s all worth it,” Parker replies. “I really thought splitting them up on the ferris wheel would help break them up.”

“There’s still hope,” I say. “They are fighting.”

Parker grins. “Look who became the optimistic one.”

I smirk, willing my blush away. “Oh, boy. I really am spending too much time with you.”

“So, tonight has gone well?” Parker asks, bracing himself. “We’re not gonna break up?”

I giggle at the ridiculousness. “We’re not breaking up.”

Parker lifts his fist in a cheer. “Yes!”

“You’re such a goofball.”

Parker grins. “Yeah, maybe.”

Beep, beep.

I feel the vibration in my pocket, and pull out my phone, I double take at the notification. “It’s a text from Tabitha.”

Parker leans over. “What’s it say?”

I hand Parker the bunny and pull my phone away. “Give me a minute.”

Out of Parker’s view, I open the text.“Sorry for what went down earlier. I feel so bad you got hurt and I hate that I keep letting Yvie rile me up. I’m thinking about not going on the camping trip so you guys can have fun without me ruining it.”

I clasp my chest and pout. “Aww.”

“What?” Parker asks, craning his neck.

I push him back. “Wait a minute.”

I text Tabitha back.“I feel so bad that you two are still fighting. Please don’t ditch on the camping trip. Hopefully we can all become friends by the end of it. We need to at least try for the sake of our boyfriends.”

She texts back.“That’s so sweet of you. I didn’t tell Kai I was thinking about not going. I think he’d be super pissed.”

“Can you tell him Parker feels really bad about things going sour between them. He was just worried about me. He definitely doesn’t want to ruin his friendship with Kai. I’d hate to come between them like that.”

“I’ll make sure he knows. I’m so glad Parker has you. I’ve never seen him this attentive before. He’s better when he’s with you.”

I quickly lock the phone and slip it into my pocket.

He’s better when he’s with me?

Huh?

“Hey, what happened?” Parker asks. “What’d she say?”

“Oh, umm, she was thinking about not going on the camping trip.”

“Oh cool.”

“No, not cool. Very uncool.”

“But it’d be easier if she wasn’t there. Yvie gets too worked up when she’s around.”

I deadpan him. “Can you imagine Kai’s reaction if his girlfriend says she’s not coming? What if he takes it out on you? I told you, I don’t want to be known as the reason you two aren’t friends anymore.”
