“I don’t want to be put in the middle of more fights while we’re out here. This isn’t fun.”

“We’ll have fun on this trip. I promise.”

I tilt my head, hating the jealousy festering inside me. “What exactly happened when you saw Yvie yesterday?”

“I told you what happened.”

“Everything?” I ask bluntly. “She was touching you a lot. Was that the first time? Or is there more you haven’t told me about?”

Parker grunts, averting his gaze. “I didn’t think there was any point in telling you. We were having such a nice time at the arcade.”

My heart sinks. “Oh my gosh. What happened? Did you two kiss?”

“What? No. I wouldn’t do that to Lewis. When Yvie and I kiss, she and Lewis will already be broken up.”

“So, what really happened?”

“She just touched my thigh when we were talking. And then my arm. And my shoulder.” He sighs, wiping his brow. “And we hugged a few times. I mean, it’s not a big deal. You and Lewis have done similar things, right?”

“Yeah, but I told you about it right away.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t purposefully keep anything from you.”

“And our kisses last night,” I murmur, holding my waist, “were they just more practice?”

“What’s happening? You’re acting so differently.”

I brush my hair back, blinking away my tears. “I don’t know. Everything feels different.”

Parker clasps my shoulders. “Last night, I kissed you because I wanted to kiss you. I wasn’t thinking about anybody else.”

I look up at him with hope. “Really?”

He nods. “Yes. But maybe you were right. Maybe kissing should stay off the table. It seems to be confusing the situation.”

My heart sinks. He thinks I’m crushing on him, and he wants it to stop.

Parker’s hands rub down my arms. “Look, it’s intense with those two. Why don’t we take advantage of a moment away from them and regroup?”

I plant a hand over my thumping heart. “I hate to admit it, but part of me wishes they didn’t come back to camp.”

“Only because we’re so close to the end of this. Sometimes getting what you want is scary.”

“Yeah, maybe.”

He tilts my chin up. “You still want to be with Lewis, don’t you?”

Do I? I forced myself into becoming a fan of a band he doesn’t even like. Now, everything feels like it’s falling apart.

“Kylie?”

I sigh out. “Of course. I guess you’re right. It’s the thought of finally being with him that’s sending me into panic.”

Parker smiles. “We got this.”

I smile and lower my voice, “No one said creating a fake relationship to break up another couple would be easy.”

“Ain’t that the truth. Anyway, I hope nothing that they said hurt your feelings.”
