Parker’s arms snatch around my waist, and he pulls me in until I slam against his body. Without a moment of warning, his lips push against mine.

My eyes pop wide open, shocked at this insidious act. When Parker’s lips meld around my bottom lip, I swiftly close my eyes. If I push him off me, it’s game over.

But...

All I can think about is Lewis’s eyes on me as I kiss his best friend.

Parker’s lips nestle against mine, and I find myself smiling at the taste of chocolate in his kiss. I move my lips, slipping against his as I concentrate on picking out the lingering ingredients from the consumed cookie dough cup.

In the middle of my back, Parker’s fingertips press into my blazer with perfect pressure. As he tilts his head in the kiss, my toes curl and cling onto the sole of my shoes. Scared I’ll lose my balance, I run my hands up his arms, eventually hooking my hands behind his neck.

Parker’s lips fit against mine like missing puzzle pieces, and I get woozy at the thought of this being real. How can something so ludicrous feel so freaking amazing? When I kiss him back, his bottom lip lowers. With an elevated heart rate, I slide my hands away from his neck. I open my eyes as we pull out of the kiss.

“Whoa, that was a kiss,” Yvette blurts.

Smile lines crinkle around Parker’s eyes from his crush’s approval.

My expression blankens.

Kai laughs, clapping. “What a show, Parker.”

My chin drops, as the weight of what we did drops on me.

“Maybe she does like him,” Tyler jokes, tapping on the lunch table.

Adrenaline surges through me.

Jamie exhales loudly. “Okay. Maybe not so crazy.”

I.

Am.

Mortified.

Parker’s hand grazes my arm, and I flinch. My stomach sours, and something tries leaping up my throat. I wipe my forehead and teeter in a dizzy circle.

Parker’s hand clasps my shoulder. “Hey, are you okay?”

As my vision doubles, I take in all the faces at the table gawking at me.

Since when did I become a sideshow act?

I didn’t sign up for everyone to judge me and make me prove anything.

I spin on my heels and hightail it between tables, weaving my way to the bathroom.

“Kylie!” Parker calls after me.

I hear his footsteps following, but I don’t slow down.

“Hey, stop,” he calls again, this time reaching out and grasping my shoulder.

I bump him off. “Don’t.”

“Wait,” he insists, moving alongside me. “I’m sorry, okay.”

I make it to the rear wall of the cafeteria and slam my back against it, folding my arms. “You’re sorry?”
