Yvette’s eyes widen as she takes in the statement.
I gasp and touch her shoulder. “Oh gosh, sorry. I didn’t mean to say you and Lewis have bad kisses. I just mean, me and Parker have really good kisses. I was hoping no one got jealous of us.”
“Uh-huh.” Her mind ticks over. “Well, maybe me and Lewis just don’t want to put everything out on display.”
Oh.
Yeah.
Right.
She has made out with every single one of her boyfriends in every square inch of our school.
This girl is not shy.
“That’s so nice,” I say with the fakest nicety. “I wish Parker and I could hold back like that. I don’t know how you two do it.”
Her tongue clicks as her chin drops.
“Okay, who’s jumping off the cliff?” Kai calls out through cupped hands.
Jamie leaps in the water. “I’m in!”
Kai cheers. “Woo. I can always count on James.”
Tyler pulls himself out of the water, calling out, “What are you all waiting for?”
I give Parker an uneasy look. “Jumping off a cliff?”
Parker points to a spot in the middle of the cliff face. “There’s a ledge right there where we jump.” His eyebrows wiggle. “You ready?”
“Heck no!”
“You already swam to the waterfall. You know how deep the water is.”
“Doesn’t mean I want to plunge into it.”
Parker holds onto my forearms, tugging me through the water. “Come on, Kikki. You’ll love it.”
Lewis and Yvette pass us, ready to join the others toward the cliff edge.
We all move out of the water. Jamie kisses Milo, who doesn’t follow her up the dirt track. Kai waits for Tabitha to leave her tanning location. And Tyler impatiently waits for everyone else.
“Are you gonna jump?” Lewis asks me.
I gulp, not waiting to say no.
“She can’t wait,” Parker boasts. “Ain’t that right, Kikki.”
I glare at him, nudging him in the ribs.
Yvette giggles. “Aw, cute. You already have a pet name for her.”
Murmured laughter circles around the group as they make their way up the dirt track.
I grab his arm and drag him backward. “I told you,” I whisper harshly. “Kikki doesn’t leave my house.”
Parker sniggers. “Oh, come on. It’s cute.”
