Tears pricked my eyes as I stood frozen with the bags in my hands. I knew I needed to move. Standing here would only get me caught, but the words kept playing over and over in my head.

You need to end this.

Tell her to get the fuck out.

“Wow. Harsh,” Lee said.

I glanced to the side, staring at her through tear-soaked eyes. I hadn’t even heard her come in. Now, she was witnessing me at my lowest. And just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, I heard his voice.

“Oh, shit.”

I couldn’t look up at him. He would see me fall apart, and I wasn’t ready for that. I knew all along it would be hard if I lost him. I knew there was a possibility he would want to move on with someone else. I just hadn’t planned on it happening so soon or that I would be this unprepared to handle it.

Or that two other people would be here to witness me being kicked out.

“Laura—”

“I should go,” I said abruptly, sucking back the tears and holding my head high, even though I had wet cheeks. “I have things to do. Lee found a place for us and we have to check it out.”

“Laura, that’s not?—”

“And I have cucumbers. Way more than I need. I’m not even sure why I got them.”

I held them out, but when he didn’t move to take them, I just dropped them on the ground.

“Um…we were going to have a dick party.”

At his confused expression, I turned on my heel and walked out the door. I didn’t look back even once. And when I got to Andrew’s house, I locked myself in my room and laid in bed staring at the ceiling, refusing to cry. I knew this was coming. I had no one to blame but myself.

I turnedand slapped my hand against Brock’s massive bicep. “You stupid douche!” I yelled, continuing to hit him. “What the fuck was that?”

“Me? You were the one that just stood there!” he pointed at the door. “You do realize what she overheard, right?”

“Of course, I do.”

“Then why did you just stand there like an idiot?”

I couldn’t even begin to explain this shit to him. “Are you fucking kidding me? What could I possibly say to make what you said sound any better?”

“Um…I don’t know. I only want to kick you out because I’m in love with you?”

“And you think that would make it better?” I shouted. “Are you insane?”

“No, but apparently, you are!”

The door opened again and I swung around, hoping Laura had come back, but it was just Scottie strolling in like he didn’t have a care in the world. “Hey, what’s with all the yelling? I could hear you in the driveway. And did you know you have a massive amount of cucumbers in front of your door?”

I glared at him. “This is all your fault!” I jabbed a finger at him.

“Okay,” Scottie chuckled. “I like cucumbers, but I never told you to get any for me.”

“Not that, you idiot! Laura. She just ran out of here because of you!”

He glanced back at the door, then back to me. “You know I just walked through the door, right?”
